Event Moderator Quest Items - Part 2

Greetings everybody, it's that time again! Event Moderators are back and with them come many new special items. However, unlike last time, the new quests and special items are more unique to individual shards. Many of the items you find may not exist on other shards so I ask that you note which shard the item was found on.

Post Away!

Can you at least post which shard had the event? I am very interested to know the items from this past weeks event.

From my information, 4 shards had events this week, one of which was Napa, and each event was completely different from the others. I've been told that special items were found at some events and not at others.

Well, the people who loot items in such events don't always make a song and dance about it, so it's possible that some were obtained unannounced.

I saw a couple of items on Atlantic and may post a screenshot when I get round to it. I assume they're new anyway due to one of them being an AoS weapon and I've heard of neither of them.

They were a "Scythe of the Horsemean" and a "Platemail Leggings of the Horseman", the scythe was blue and the leggings green, neither had any amazing stats to shout about, not that I noticed anywy.

Napa got an open book with the name "Leather Bound Atlas Marked With Patroll Routes" or something like that.

Here is a picture of what the first EM item from the new quests on Napa looks like. The one in player possession looks exactly like this one:

These are the 3 items from the first event of the second arc on Europa, now in my collection thanks to Arradin and Doctor Ecks:

The pot and vase are purely decorative, but the wind instrument can be played by double clicking it, and makes the noise of a wraith, intended I believe to sound like the noise of playing a broken wind instrument *grins*

Some friends and I had a long chat with Arilem (Europa's EM) after the quest was over. After showing him my collection, we talked about the quest, what was possible as far as events were concerned, and what we could expect from the upcoming events.

The most information he could give us, was that he strongly disliked the idea of quest items being used for pvp, and that he would make sure that all the new quest items on Europa are purely decorational, with whimsical function, or none at all. He also said that he was going to try and take the focus off a little from monster bashing, and involve a little more thinking, and fiction, in the upcoming quests, although, in his own words "If I had more say in it, there would be hardly any monster bashing".

I agree strongly with his points on the items being used for pvp, and would also love to see more emphasis on fiction in the upcoming quests.

I just hope someday OSI gives the EM's full powers akin to the IGM's, but for now I think they're definitely doing a great job, and Europa's EM for one, is a thoroughly nice bloke.

The horsemen armor and scythe were from back at Halloween. Was a quest then and if you killed one of the "headless horsemen" they would randomly drop one peice of that armor. Funny thing is the "headless horsemen" had a chance to drop a Helm. hehe

Tattered Monk robes (various shades of grey, similar to dull copper) spawned on Atlantic tonight. They are robes that give 3% physical resist like vet robes.

2-4 exist.

The Black Halberd was also given on Atlantic this past monday. I don't thing there is a Unique name or any outstanding MODS to it? Does anyone have a pic? Was something similar to it given out over the past few years?

Which shards have had events already ? I am on Chesapeake shard and I am very excited about more events on the way. Of course with my luck I will probably miss them. /php-bin/shared/images/icons/frown.gif Wich is why I wish there were scenarios like in the old days instead of these events.

The black halberd is not a quest item and was not intentionally given out. The revenants that the EMs spawned dropped them when they shouldn't have.

I wonder if GMs will be looking to reclaim those halberds from players.

<blockquote><hr>

EM's weren't around many years ago

<hr></blockquote>

I'll go check the house that has some on display, it's got a book telling where it came from.

Edit: Ok the discription doesn't say what year it spawn, just says that on halloween they spawned in random cemitaries and when kill a random piece of armor would drop. I have a screen shot of the leggings and scythe if anyone wants to see what they look like

I am told that there were 3 quest items given out on Lake Austin:
Tattered Monk Robe
and a red blessed ring "Sigil of Necromari"

Any confirmation?

I tell you what. I think everybody that attends an Event should be rewarded something. A sash marking the event would be nice, since many stand around for days waiting for the event. I like the idea that all were rewarded a sash for the Drachenfel event. Perhaps on Atlantic, when one attends an event, you should be whisked away to a secluded area, where all participants are rewarded a Commemoration Coin or something. I think that would be topnotch, rather than the event being lost in obscurity.

On Pacific about 2 weeks ago, some "Petrified Bone Shards" were given involving a quest in deceit. Earlier this week they had another very fun quest where it involved 4 tasks to be completed. Each task gave out an unique item, Balron's Blood, Ancient Shadow Wyrms Heart, Ivory Cup, Staff of Mysteries. However, the EM had asked the players to turn in all of these items inorder for them to cast a huge spell of some sort that would locate a sage beleived to battaled the 4 evil brothers ages ago. Here is the kicker, all items were turned in, the EM himself was suppose to turn in the petrified bone spurr but since that was obtained over a week earlier, the owners did not show up. So the spell was not cast and people were PISSED. Especially the ones who turned in their unique items oh my!!! Any comments?

Pure bad organization. To be perfectly honest I'm VERY suprised the people turned in their unique items anyway.

I don't think they should have used items that were recieved during different events. They should have known the chance that everyone would/could be there with each piece was not good.

If they didn't want to participate (i.e. do what was required of them) then perhaps they shouldn't have bothered. I love how people seem to think every single event MUST give THEM something, rather than just being part of the story and solving the problems presented to them. People that go into these things EXPECTING to be rewarded regardless of the situation really should just sit by the sidelines and emote *Moping for Goodies*.

Perhaps it's a symptom of society today -- there may be no "I" in team, but there is A ME.

hmmm.....lets see....Ultima in itself was always based on adventures and quests, modeled after some of the popular RPG's we have played in 70's and 80's. True the quests and adventures were about the story, but the end of the story ALWAYS had a REWARD. Sometimes the reward came in the guise of ITEMS, sometimes in LEVELING, and sometimes in TITLES. Whatever it may come in, the object of a QUEST was to OBTAIN something, whether for yourself or for the common good.

Yes... however people seem to think that doing something for the common good is beneath them, especially if they get nothing other than a "thanks". Hence one reason the scenarios didn't do so well -- instead of doing a good deed just to do it, people were enticed into doing what they should have done willingly by the addition of new content (and thus, camping.) Admittedly having no positive reinforcement at all is just as bad, but the presumption of immediate reward regardless of your involvement is ridiculous.

I stand by my point -- if you and others really think that the only reason to do things in this game is for "tangible" reward, perhaps you should try another game where guaranteed physical rewards are the norm.

Historically, games that have become wishing wells end up disappointing more people than they make happy. UO has tended to do that now and then, usually to its folly.

There were Seer events that did NOT involve receiving special items, but just involved players helping someone who requested it and getting their thanks (plus whatever spawns.) Hopefully the new seers will return to that method of storytelling once the newness is gone.

On 30th of April there was a tournament in the Luna Arena Malas on Europa. 16 people go t lucky to take part. I lost in the first round and got a Sash called 'Obsidian Warrior' I hope you can see the pic /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif The Winner got a Sash in black and I think it was called 'Obsidian Champion'. He also got a black staff called 'Obsidian Staff' if I remember right. I hope he also shows a pic of his prize. The Staff was 100% physical damage with spellchanneling, no fc-1 and another mod, but not sure. It was not a very uber staff, so the EM's learned not to give out uber artis :p

The winner (Loco) was actually given a charcoal sash named "Obsidian Warrior Champion", and a charcoal coloured bladed staff, "The Obsidian Staff", it was purely a decorative weapon, but it had the additional properties of spell channeling (no penalty), and use best weapon skill.

An example of the Obsidian Warrior sash and The Obsidian Staff itself will soon be on display at the Luna ruins public rares museum on Europa, by the south gate of Luna.

I think in this rare scenario 3D was probably the better choice of clients, since a black halberd ought to look a bit odd on a 2D paperdoll.

Baja got its first event items last week.

The home of the Dark Lord Furiselt was discovered in Nujel'm and everyone went there with Archimedes to confront him for summoning the ethereal demon. He escaped to Felucca Nujel'm and Archimedes cast a gate to take us there to capture or kill him.

In Fel Nujel'm four Ethereal Minions spawned [used the Impaler body, and were ethereal hued gore fiends]. Each one had a 'Shadow Artillery' on its corpse.

I have no idea how to post pictures so I'll just read off its attributes.

They were black hued crossbows.
Spell channeling
hit fireball 60%
spell damage increase 10%
faster cast recover -1
faster casting -1
damage increase 40%
Aside from these, the rest is regular crossbow attributes.

<hr></blockquote>Am I the only one who found this quite amusing? /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif That bow is sickly overpowered, and pub25 if anything will make it better.. due to the fc cap.
