always seem to be. For every bit I save up...by the time i reach a decent amount..it always turns out to be par with LAST years prices. Those big items are always out of reach unless I finally resort to cheating one of these days.

Just by farming powerscrolls I made 182m last week, you really need to refocus your energy towards profitable gains in the game thats all, Stop farming peerless bosses or going to trammel for your gold, if you do that is.

I don't agree about farming anything...it's not the way I play. If rares are now for just the farmers (and let's face it...exploiters and those scripters too), then I guess I'm out.
takes me months to make a 100 mil...and when an item I saw for 60 mil is now 160 mil...it's rising just too fast for me

That's partly true. I don't farm, script, exploit and sometimes I can make ok gold just by buying/selling/trading.

prices arent rising, what your seeing is the average player selling an item for its worth, 60mil and todays "rares brokers" buying it quickly and later reselling at 160mil.
word to the wise, you see these people with lists of rares for sale, they're usually marked up by a lot. wait for it and you can find any rare for cheap

In some cases you might be right, but some rares just aren't for sale often. And when they are people jump on it.
So don't expect to buy say, a Lt. sash for 50 million. There's <10. And the owners damn well know what they're worth.

the longer uo lasts the more players there are with the money to spend on items, and the more players there are who want items, add to this the fact that with the traditional event program having been cancelled there are not many new items being introduced into the game for players to spend money on so prices on many items are rising and will continue to do so.
It's a basic fact of any economy when the supply is less than the demand the price rises, so unless the number of players interested in buying rares suddenly drops off prices on many items will continue to rise at least to a point.
Oh, and just so there's no confusion, I sell rares, and yes I buy them for less and sell them for a profit, this clearly makes me a horrible person.

Not exactly true. UO population is going down and will keep going down steadily if they do not start advertising or make drastic changes to lure back old players (both very unlikely scenarios). Sure we get new players here and there, but not as many as we need to replace the ones who are leaving.

Actually very true, as UO continues to exist more players are making gold, purchasing gold, being given gold, and acquiring it by any number of means, so the number of players who want and can afford items increases over time, even if the population is slowly decreasing. This will eventually change, but as long as players continue to come in it will off set it for awhile.

How are you to determine what someone can or should pay?

I know you mean no harm by posting this jibberish but why bother to post it then, I dont get offended by someone trying to discredit the value of something because usually that person is trying to buy it or resell it themselves and wants a deal.. You being a rare collector, obvoiulsy sees lesser value because well you dont player vs player, and woudlnt quite understand how amazing this gorget can be for any one who owns it..

it was merely to inform ppl of, the original quantity, the fact that the Main mod on it is +10 HCI which you can get +30 HCI from the orc chief helm and pay only about 25% of what ur asking for the collar, and to Enlighten ppl on how to determine what they "Can and Should" pay for items such as this. Now the orc chief helm may not have 87 resists but its extra 20% HCI makes up for that, now i completely understand that this is a Neck piece and not a Head piece but the fact still remains that there are far better items out there that you could get those mods from and not have to spend 2b to do so

and on a side note, if you value glad collar at 2b, what do you value, oh lets say, Ornate Encrusted Arm Guards at??, its the sleeves with ****y res and 10 sdi, i know its not comparable to the glad collar or anything but im just curious to find out how you determine your pricing hehe
