[Event] Boat Race Challenge, July 28th, 7pm EST

Boat Race Challenge

Captain Hawkeye Pike challenges you to race against him!
Meet on July 28th at 7pm EST at the Counselor's Hall in Britain!

The race will be held on a predetermined route. The participants have to bet at least 300,000 gold pieces on their victory. Higher bets or donations are welcome!! If Hawkeye Pike beats the landlubber, the prize goes into a pot. This way, the pot will accumulate and raise until someone manages to outsail the pirate! If someone beats Hawkeye, he will win the whole pot. The location of the race will be disclosed prior to the race. Participants will receive a map with the course. The location may change with every race.

Spectators are welcome! May the fastest seafarer win!

Current content of the pot: 1.4 million gold pieces

(Having an EM as a referee would again be a great thing!)

The pot has increased to 2.7 million gold coins. Which means, the pirate won last night's boat race, of course. Har har! Alright, the landlubber wench Katherine Elle sailed quite well and bumped into another boat, and was 15 seconds slower. The other participant, James, got totally lost and returned on foot!

The course lead around the four islands of Jhelom (Jhelom, South Jhelom Island, North Jhelom Island and Dragon Island, to be precise, check sea chart for details). It was not very complicated, but much longer than the last race.

Stay tuned for future boat races! This event will be repeated with different courses until someone wins the pot.

That was a lot of fun yesterday.

In addition to getting rammed (I was the lookout on the boat that came in second), we had our first race-time naval battle. Unfortunately, the captain of our vessel was far too quick to react and I couldn't finish the task of sinking the enemy. My bow can only shoot so far.

The race was a great deal of fun. I was a passenger/observer on the Warship Lollipop and must admit that the events on the high seas seemed to bring out Aedon's inner pirate. Looking forward to the next race. Expect to find us armed and dangerous. (mostly to ourselves.)

It's not my fault James decided to make the sea race a sea battle but I did encourage him. I was going to bomb your ship from the start but the beginning caught me by surprise and you were to far away before I knew what was happening.

Piper was also captured after it was done and brought back to the pirates' beach to clean their ships of barnacles, but I had to leave due to RL things. (Once again, sorry for that!) I fully expect to be doubly harassed next time for dashing! Been a while since I had a good brawl with you pirate sorts...
