They are named rioters or raiders. :)

Thanks, also, is the Town loyalty Capped ?

That is, there is a high limit which, once reached, cannot be passed ?

In such a case, what is this Town Loyalty CAP ?

I also seem to understand that it an't possible to help out more than 1 Town as if the loyalty in one town goes up, the loyalty in other towns goes down.....

So, if the goal is to max out town loyalty I guess one can only focus on 1 town and that's it.....

the guard captains basically say in one of thier text lines, that the more cities you try to help the more hated youll end up being so its better to choose one city and stay with it. the raiders seem to be from a town other than the one your in. the guards say that the towns jails are packed so raiders can be killed or arrested and returned to thier home town. thats where you can lose city loyalty i think.
Im Respected in jhelom on tc and still neutral with all other towns.

actually there is no war town vs town... is more like the people is starving and start to burn down every city, and the government has spent all their coin to fight the bane chosen and they can't afford to pay more soldier to fight against this rebellion...
in short: anarchy and chaos :D

I have enough on plate in real life to cope with this in game. I play UO for escapism, not to encounter the same problems in reality.

Yeah, this story arc makes me wonder if art is imitating life or is life imitating art.

Well, that and also how many folks in game want to join the rioters instead of arresting them..... things that make you go hmmmmm.

I call this performance art. The players who march to the devs' tune will be rewarded yet again.

Those who adhere to the code of conduct, but wish to tell their own stories and go their own way will probably be at best massively inconvenienced.

I am seriously considering closing my accounts. Because this is not my idea of entertainment. I just want to play in peace.

If it is anything like the Bane story line (anyone know?), players would have the option of not participating and simply continue doing their own thing.

Everything I know, or think I know *shrugs* is up yonder ^^^^^. I would imagine players still have the option of not participating. Not sure why they wouldn't tho, with this group of EM's we have working on this deal imo it promises to be a fun time.

Does negative karma/fame have an impact on getting a rope, or other?(at some point, most npc's stop talking to you i think).
So far it seems any toon can play, IF they wish, wonder if that will change in the future? like if i need to stock up now on in-town goods for mules?

One thing I did notice is that I decided that I would craft clothing to give to these poor people...and they didn't want it! I spent hours cutting and sewing and they looked at me and said...*Well that's very nice of you to offer but what would I do with that?*

I guess poor people are picky?

I tried bandanas, floppy hats, robes, cloaks, shirts, short and long pants and aprons...they didn't want any of them...I guess they just want NPC-bought clothing? Or is that a little glitch?

So this is on Test and Origin, what about the other shards, anyone knows? Nothing on Pacific yet..
Shouldn't be.

The idea is to use Origin and Test to see if the event breaks or, more importantly perhaps, breaks anything else once implemented.

Test, then Origin (which was created to be the permanent "first real shard" to get stuff, as opposed to the old system where the shards would trade off that honor).

My town (Serpent's Hold) is not even an option, so I guess I'll just sporadically help out all of the towns and see what calamity befalls me.

Edit: Just got "Respected" in New Magincia. As a result, I've gone from "Commended" to "Doubted" in Moonglow.
Serpent's Hold is not a town.

It is like Empath Abbey (Love), The Lycaeum (Truth)- Serpent's Hold (Courage) is a stronghold/castle that is the embodiment/symbol of the Principle it is aligned with.

I sure hope it's not intended and I sure hope it can be and is fixed/changed.

'Cos making clothes for them is a great idea.

I DID however get a laugh when I mis-clicked....
Try arresting the rope iteself. That got a laugh out of me!

Has anyone gotten above "Adored" yet?

And also, I've been working my loyalty in Jhelom. Now this has happened a couple times, but sometimes when I arrest rioters on the smaller island, they won't come with me when I use the city's teleporter, so I can't get them back to the Guard Captain.

It also lets me take another rope and arrest another rioter, so I'll actually have two under arrest at the same time, at least until I return the second one, which seems to make the first rioter just disappear.

Okay I think I might have been trying to drop the items on something else..or..something I have no idea.

They won't take ANY hats, I guess they don't want to keep their heads warm lol but anything else they will take..dresses, cloaks, robes, jester suits etc. Just NO HATS!

And I'm still only commended :/ in both Yew and Mag and I've been doubly...doubly? Twice as busy in Mag then I have been in Yew.

Maharia is Trustworthy and Devious is Glorious...I don't know if Fame/Karma has a factor. Maharia is in Yew and Devious is in Mag.

On TC, I managed to get from "Commended" to "Distrusted", mostly with the angry protesters... no idea now many NPCs I convinced (each one got 1K gold from me), about 20-30 I think?

Maybe if we instituted a law that would jail the hat-less they might come around.

Also a law should be passed that allows only cake and pie to be eaten.

Wait...you're going DOWN in loyalty...by doing what..helping one city and then going and helping another?

I might do that on Larisa...just cus she's ebil and that's something she would do....and she's red...*evil grin*

Being distrusted in a city...does that have any impact on you when you visit that city? Are the NPC's there mean to you or anything? I wonder if that will happen later on in the event..that would be cool.

ALSO I've noticed now in Mag that there are a TON of council members wandering around....they don't do anything atm but they just appeared....very interesting.

Keep in mind Being negative in a city may have a bad effect later in the arc...just saying keep this in mind! I have a feeling a few players are going to do this then think its not fair later that they are not liked! and cant take advantage of certain things..

Yeah that's exactly what Larisa would do.

Maharia is my tamer..very helpful but still a little off from the effects of blackrock. She chose Yew because that's where she heard *The Voice* for the first time and feels a strong attachment there.

Devious is saddened by the state of Mag and it's current situation and has spent thousands of gold handing out clothing and food to the poor citizens hoping to appease their unrest.

Larisa is just evil...she'll pretend to be your friend but will put an arrow in your back the minute you turn it to her. I don't even trust her ;)

LOL good to know Larisa, My crafters are choosing the crafting cites like minoc/vesper and also happen to be the cities I started with! My tamer will most likely pic britain as that is where I stable and hang out the most! My archer will take yew I think as thats where I started training fletching/archery!
The one thats giving me troubles is My gargoyle ...kinda feels like the unwanted step child ;-) kinda thinking moonglow for her she is a mystic/mage after all

Kylie..you scare me sometimes lol...but the guard captain DOES say any means necessary.....

Storm...I feel you...the Gargoyles are kinda sad :(

I think I would pick Yew for my Gargoyle, it's a very pleasant, open spread out kinda lazy town...I like it.

Though right now on Origin Yew is rather quiet. I've only come across a handful of angry protesters since last night and have given them all the food, clothing and coin I can. No fires since last night...it's rather peaceful, and I'm still commended there.

In Mag, Devious has her hands full...no council members in Yew but they are literally all over in Mag, too many protesters for her to keep up with and fires so plentiful I think I'm going to get carpel tunnel putting them all out! She's adored there now.

How well can a character with no combat skills do in this scenario? Or should they just stay home? :stretcher:

So far in the arc a crafter can do it. All it consists of is double clicking a rope, targetting the rioter, picking up the trash they toss around or peeing on the fire they start :p . Later on down the road? Hmmmmmmm no telling.

the guard captains even tell you in one of there shouts that you shouldnt try to help all or you will become more hated. So like some have said you should have one town loyalty for one character. I started in jhelom and got up to respected while staying neutral in others. All I did was arrest rioters and put out their fires.

See that's one thing I didn't test and wanted to.

My loyalty is still unknown in every city but the ones I am actively working on.

IF I were to go into the other cities and merely put out fires and arrest rioters, that would NOT affect my loyalty to my *home city*... correct? Only by appeasing the city's citizens will my loyalty become questioned...that is how I understand it.

you get the same message when you put a fire out or pick up trash as you do arresting rioters (the missing string thing). So arrests prolly give you the higher loyalty points and fires/garbage give you minimal loyalty for that town.
I know on test i gave one NPC about 50 doublets and my loyalty stayed at commended so dont know how much you get from that. Also i left a rioter makin trouble and just kept cleaning up after him, stood there and put out about 30 tiles of fire and about 15 garbage and was still at Commended.

Kinda wish we could beat the protesters into submission instead of giving them stuff.... :p

Atleast we can just kill the rioters tho :D
We need a new alchemy potion that acts like pepper spray. A lesser poison potion mixed with a "lesser" explosion potion. It would cause a weak poison cloud that would cause the rioters eyes to burn and thus be able to be captured. We'd get bonus loyalty points for "spraying" a protester that's not actually doing anything wrong.

Good idea and that would work for most everyone. I would prefer an almost lethal form of getting them to submit. As it stands now I have to fashion a hangmans noose out of the rope they give me and drag their butts to jail. They eventually stop resisting, but would be an easier walk if they were already beaten into submission  hehehehehe

This is where imbuing and blacksmithing would come into play. Craft a warfork of exceptional quality then imbue the weapon with max hit lightning. This would in effect make the warfork a type of tazer. Just place both prongs of the fork against the raider and knock him to the ground.

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to give you a little insight was to what is going on with town loyalty. As I am sure you are aware this is the first small piece of the 7 month live arc we are planning. Your town loyalty will act as a pre condition for things to come at a later date in the arc. So pick your town you want to support and stick with it.

Mag is safe! Well..not really...lol

I have Maharia in Yew and...though there's not many protesters or fires there it's still very quiet.

Mag, on the other hand...is FULL of Rioters...protesters..fires and ALOT of council members which I haven't seen in any other town.

I'm glad Origin doesn't have a huge Vendor presence because I have been spending ALOT of gold trying to appease these people! My archer is now Beloved in Mag even though there are still a ton of angry people there.

Yew is fairly simple....I think I've put out a total of 5 fires there, mostly at the sheep farm..those poor sheep are bound to get roasted! But in Mag I have put out so many I think I'm getting carpel tunnel..no lie! Those people are NOT happy...I really don't blame them but I'm doing my best! :)

It's been really fun so far...I haven't seen rioters from OTHER towns yet but I'm sure that's coming.

If this is just the first part then I imagine that after the rioters every kind of monster will attack the cities that are totally defenseless and we have to protect them...
A hero will appears from nowhere and will end the war, then will be crowned as king and everyone lived happily ever after.... until a giant deamon/dragon/ogre arrives and starts the next event arc

For those of us who want to ignore this event, are all town vendors/banks operational? Are there any towns without this event? I have limited time to play lately but I still need supplies for my crafter to keep vendors marginally stocked. If I can ignore the rioters, garbage and fires I'll be happy.

Thanks and it sounds like fun! I wish I could play more!

*edit*

Never mind. ;) I did more reading and it looks like there will be a few cities spared the chaos for some of us. Looks like Serpent's Hold, Buc's Den, Papua, Delucia, Luna, Nujelm, Ter Mur, Zento, and Umbra aren't effected.. Did I miss any?

Will there be an option for my bane-loyal character? In an RP sense,it would be silly to suddenly chose to defend a city that earlier I chose to attack by killing the Meer and human defenders.

Well to play it strictly, you've made your choice, and your guy (Virtuebane) lost.

So now you can either come on board with one of the cities or remain a man without a country.

Based on what others have said you could kill when the game mechanics prefer capture or appeasement and make all of the cities help you.

You'd be like a mad killer, using the troubles as a cover.

Kind of like the Tommy Lee Jones character in the movie Blown Away, a psychotic killer who hooked up with the Irish resistance to the Brits 'cos it gave him an excuse to blow **** up.
