How can I find how many items are in my backpack in the enhanced client. I'm mining and running out of room but cannot hover to get a decription of the backpack object and obtain the weight or item count. I see weight on the character sheet.
Actually, I wish I could see all the basic information in the upper window menu bar area. user defined of course.

Honestly, I can't see how you're running out of item slots when mining. I mean, there might be something like 50ish different ore types but to run out of item slots you really need to cherish every single different small ore etc.
So, I'll assume you're talking about weight and other info like that - in that case, you just create a new toolbar and drag the weight icon on it, and voilà, there's your status bar (that's not exactly like UOA's but it's kinda similar).
If I'm wrong and you REALLY want to know how many items are in your backpack, I'm afraid there's no easy way - unless you use the grid view and keep all the rows organized, so you can see how many rows are left empty at the bottom and have an idea of how many spots you have left.
