Enchanted Tinkered Gadgetry / New Wall-Mounted Art

Back in January, Mesanna teased us in her Producer's Letter that the new housing theme pack would include "Advanced Tinkering – This will allows players to create new gadgets, one example is being able to create a light switch for your house to turn off and on your lamps." [Source: http://www.uo.com/article/Letter-Producer-1]

In the thread that grew in response to that producer's letter, Phoenix said something which implied that a light switch for turning your lamps on and on would use words of power on enchanted tinkered gadgetry. I haven't purchased the King's Collection yet, so I can't answer this one myself. However, do the lamps in the collection show any signs of being "enchanted"?

Also, how are things looking on the floor above where you've placed wall-mounted art from the King's Collection? Do any parts of the new art poke through from the floor below?

The horse painting makes sounds?!?! Does it have a context menu so you can turn it off if you want to? Does anything else in the collection have "hidden features" to it?

Also, I like how you made that look like the banner and painting are mounted to two posts. That's a nice look, Frarc.

It's a shame that you can't place the small bells near the door at castles & keeps. You also can't place two of the new craftable shelves above each other or place something below one (without using the ladder trick to raise them high enough). The small bell has the same loud noise as the large Monastery Bell which is kind of funny (tho sad as well). Take into account that you can't buy more than one, the code for the token is wrong, and they added a few changes which we couldn't even test and this publish is one big mess. I can see EA rushing to put this out so that they can get cash from us, but this was one big mistake after another. I for one am disappointed.

Has anyone crafted the lamps yet? My character has the code, 85 skill & all parts listed. yet it says zero chance to make it. Also the cello does not list cloth to make but ten is needed.
I am talking about the lamps listed on the tinker menu.

Yes i tinkered a dragon lamp.

But i had to set UI to default and not Pinco's . Seems there is still a problem crafting some new items in it. Have to make a bug report.

I wrote up a bug, but here's a work around. Pinco's tool is looking for a "Lit" candelabra and UO want's an unlit one, so I had a spare one lit and made them fine. I had 9 candelabras in my pack, one was lit the other 8 weren't and I was able to create all 8 using Make X (x=8).

Made all the types, on a GM tinker.

The menu says 85 skill. Has ANYONE made at that skill or have all of you who made one GM?

At 85 skill it gives my success rate of zero! Even though the menu says 85. What dev designed this? Please come forward and explain how it is to be done.

Frarc your amazing! thank you for your pic's You answered nearly all my questions in one swoop of the keys.
One small thing Zeke... Are you saying you cant buy more then one pac per account? As I thought they cleared up that you could buy more but must be used on a second account and so forth.. Use was open to all who have the xpac registered...

85 represents the minimum skill you need to attempt crafting the item, which represents a very low chance of success (functionally represented as 0). At 100 tinkering you have a 75% chance of success.

I was referring to the Origin (or EA) Account - the master email address you linked your accounts to. This has been reported and Mesanna indicated they were working on the problem.

To further elaborate....

There are two different ways the "minimum skill" to create an item is handled.

The first is typified by Blacksmithing, where the Minimum Skill is the point where the item is 0.0% to craft, but can be crafted if one uses a Talisman for the rest of the skill. The "Window" for the skill is 50 points, meaning that it takes 50 points above the minimum to reach 100%.

The second is typified by Tailoring, where the "Window" is still 50, but you start at 50% Success rate, so you only have to gain 25 Skill Points to reach 100% in the item.

Not all crafting skills have the 0.2% to 0.1 skill ratio, and most crafting skills also have exceptions to the rule the rest of the items for that specific skill follow. For example, the Tailor recipe quivers start at 0% like Blacksmith items.

Kyronix, care to expand on this? I wouldn't mind knowing the standard success-to-skill ratios for the other skills besides the "big two", and if there are items that use different ratios within their skill.
