Empty Banks

I am a returning player who has played UO (on and off) since 2000. I just returned from about a 7 month break and noticed that the Brit. Bank is always empty now. Before I left, there were still plenty of people trying to sell/buy things. Is there some event or something that I'm missing or has UO lost that many subscribers?

With the recent invasion events the banks weren't a safe place to recall to. Most vendors are in Luna, but you'll be paying a high price buying items in Luna.

You haven't been able to Recall into Brit or Moonglow for about a week or more now, even though there is no active invasion going on in either Town. Inu is wander around Moonglow, but that's the only evidence of Recall activity.

I guess I missed out on a lot. When I last stopped playing, there was a portal in Moonglow where all sorts of monsters were in. Now, it's nothing more than a crater. I haven't been able to see any invasions either. Is there somewhere that I could go to catch up with the storyline? Thanks everyone!
