For those of you who couldn't make tonight's EM-lead Community Meeting, here's a quick round-up of info!

The meeting was held at 8 PM EST at the Counselor's Guild Hall in Britain. However, upon arriving there, a moongate twinkled unwaveringly in the center of the hall.

The moongate led to the newly built House of Commons located just south of Britain in Trammel(sextant coords 23'S 0'E). The towering structure was beautifuly constructed and held ample seating for throngs of people.

Getting the meeting started off, EM Tailspin made a few announcements. Firstly, EM Dudley is no longer a floater EM but is now fully dedicated to Chesapeake. Conversely, EM Faine Morgan has also been elevated to a dedicated EM and will be serving the Origin shard. Everyone gave them both a hearty cheer on their promotions but also a bittersweet farewell to Faine.

Next on the agenda was the announcement that these sorts of community meetings for Chesapeake will be held on a roughly weekly basis. As to the fixed time and day, nominations were taken from the assembled crowd for the most convenient time. Ballot boxes were then set so that people could vote from among the nominated times. The people voted and Sundays at 7 PM EST won out with a very large majority.

Perhaps the biggest announcement was on the future of EM events. Beginning sometime in March, events will be held on a regular basis. However, the interesting twist shall be that players as a community will be given the opportunity to help steer the direction or certain aspects of these events. An example given was how a princess would be taken captive and held in a fortress. Players would then attempt to rescue her. Based on community input, perhaps this would be achieved via a frontal assault on the fortress, or perhaps via a stealthy incursion over the fortress walls. In essence, players would help choose or influence how aspects of the event would transpire. Needless to say, this is both an intriguing and innovative way to approach EM events whereas in the past they were almost entirely preset with few avenues for divergence.

Another hot topic was the discussion of the possible construction of fairgrounds for Chesapeake. Several possible locations were suggested by players, including west Britain fields, Skara Brae, Vesper and New Haven. Additionally, the idea of a design competition was also floated.

Additionally, EM's will now be available for fan site interviews.

Lastly, the topic of event items and rewards was also covered. Basically, the outcome of many events will not necessarily be a "take home" reward as in the past(which all too often were targetted by people just looking to make some gold re-selling the new "rare" items or xsharding them rather than enjoying the event) but could be a commemoration of achievenment such as a statue, plaque, etc. This is not to say there will never be "take home" rewards(there will be), but they will not be the focus and exclusive reason to participate in events in the future as they were all too often in the past. A popular example of an event with items could be competitions.

The meeting last for nearly two hours, the end of which saw another round of heart-felt farewells for EM Faine Morgan with many players thanking her, even in her brief time on Chesapeake these past few months, for helping enrich it. She said she would try to stop by and visit sometime if it were possible :)

Good luck to Faine Morgan on Origin, those folks are getting a great EM!

Quick disclaimer - I may have forgotten and/or mis-read some stuff so don't take everything written here as gospel or 100% exact quotes. I have a pounding headache/hangover still from Saturday night and too much LoneStar beer, lol

Crap! I hate that I missed it. I was gung-ho about coming (and had a nice chat with Tailspin at the counselor's guild that Friday, but had to wrangle a sick baby last night.

Thanks for the fabulous writeup!
