Eliminating the Grandfather...

Gruesome title I know!

I recently picked up an account to hold one of my houses. However, it already had two grandfathered homes on it. One home is on the shard I play on and the other is on a shard I do not play on.

The shard I play on, the home is Trammel right along the Trinny wall. The other shard is also a Trammel home someplace or another.

If they were max secure houses I would probably just keep them but they are more the mid-size home.

I am just not sure if I should say forget about the Grandfathered homes and put my house on it or keep the Grandfathered homes as well...once its gone its gone.

Thoughts?

If it were me, I'd keep the grandfathered homes. I still kick myself for not keeping my old houses when they made that change. At the time I thought it was too much of a bother to keep up with more than one house, so I dropped my others and went with just one.

If they only knew I used to have two smalls on the same shard back when that was a possibility!

correct me if I am wrong, shouldn't grandfathered houses be in Fel only?

It should not be possible to have grandfathered houses in Tram because the while reason for such houses on the same account is to let people that played prior to the introduction of Tram to keep their houses.

Grandfathered houses could also be on multiple shards, because one of the rules was to allow one house per account per shard.

This being said, I removed my small Grandfathered houses a half year ago.

"Grandfathered" means multiple houses on one account placed before the AoS housing system changes... so Tram or Fel is possible.

Actually Crysta, unless my memory is failing, NGB is right. We gave up more than a handfull of grandfathered houses, and I'm pretty sure it was effective immediately when we placed when Tram was "born." I do remember vividly struggling with the dilemma of to place anew or not (we were giving up a castle and others to try and place a new castle (a process I also remember in great detail)), thus condemning the other houses. What I don't rememeber is if we struggled knowing the change was around the corner (which I doubt) or if it was part of the "handshake" from the beginning (which I'm pretty sure it was).

NGB is right and wrong.

The confusion is there are two types of grandfathered houses.

Type 1: Multiple houses on the same shard on the same account. They became "grandfathered" around the trammel time frame.

Type 2: Multiple houses on the same account but different shards. This was possible AFTER Trammel but eventually OSI/EA did away with this ability as well and the existing accounts with multiple homes on multiple shards became Grandfathered.

Also, I guarantee it is possible as I have an account with two grandfathered trammel homes.

Likewise confirming Podolak's statements - I too have multi-shard grandfathered housing - quite a rare thing having houses on numerous production shards in both Trammel and Fel as well as Siege. Some of the Fel houses are indeed on the same account on the same shard. Had to forgo the 18x18 but being able to shard-hop more than compensates!
