(Player News) Election Results for Third Council of the King!

The results have come in and once again, Election Day was a flurry of activity.

Before diving into the results, I must note that the following candidates running for re-election were unopposed and retained their seat:

  • Jhelom - Lady Alista Laleyan
  • Minoc - Lady Tanda Knighthawke
  • Moonglow - Lord Walter Tyrell
  • New Magincia - Lady Miss Kitty
  • Skara Brae - Lord Neptune
  • Yew - Lady Willa of the Yew-wood

I took a moment to speak with one of the unopposed incumbents. Moonglow was relatively calm compared to other cities on election night when I found Governor Tyrell near the Moonglow Mint.

Vivian Fellows (VF): How does it feel to be an a re-elected public servant?

Walter Tyrell (WT): It is satisfying to be able to serve.
VF: Do you already have any plans for your second term?

WT: I hope to convince the King that we deserve an arcane circle. I also have plans to hold a New Years celebration in Moonglow.

VF: That sounds exciting! Any teasers about what we can look forward to at the celebration?

WT: Food, drink, some entertainment, prizes, perhaps a few games of chance!

VF: Well thank you for your time governor, good luck in your new term.

WT: Thank you.

While the election in Britain drew most of the attention, a close race in Trinsic and a newly elected governor in Vesper also created their own news. After speaking to Governor Tyrell, I took off for Trinsic where it was a close race until the very end. Former chancellor and current governor of Trinsic, Ra'Dian Fl'Gith was in a dogfight with Shanny of the Order of the Knights Templar. For most of the week, Shanny held a large lead over the incumbent, but as election night grew closer, Ra'Dian managed to slowly chip away at the lead. On the final night, Governor Ra'Dian was able to overtake Shanny and close with a 53.8% to 46.2% victory. Congratulations to both in what was a very close election.

With the polls closed, I headed to Vesper and found the new governor, Aornis of the Den of Stone Dragons. She had just been informed of her victory when I caught up to her.

VF: Congratulations on your victory.

Aornis (A): Thank you, Vivian!

VF: How does it feel to be the newly elected governor of Vesper?

A: It feels wonderful! I can't wait to start working for the people of Vesper!

VF: The city has been marred in the past, first the pirate mayor Sweet Maid Sally. Then accusations of treason against former governor O'Hare. Is it safe to say you will bring the steady hand of order to the city?

A: Yes, I'm looking to give Vesper a clean slate, bring our great city back to glory!

VF: Do you already have any plans for your first term?

A: Great question. Yes, I do. I plan to work on further improving Vesper's relationships with the other cities while meeting with the citizens to see what they need.

VF: Thank you governor! Good luck in your first term in office!

With the evening coming to a close, I took the moongate to Britain where I found many in a celebratory mood. Most of the revelers were celebrating Dot Warner's crushing re-election victory over Superspot. According to her supporters, people were still lined up to vote when election official turned them away and closed the polls. Shortly thereafter, governor Warner's thunderous result of 57.9% to 40.1% was announced to cheers. In the middle of the celebration, I found the Lady Dot Warner dressed festively and in quite the jovial mood.

VF: Good evening governor, congratulations on your victory!

Dot Warner (DW): Hello and thank you.

VF: Another election, another come from behind victory in the polls. At the beginning, many were certain you were likely to lose.

Dot nods her head

VF: How does it feel to prove your naysayers wrong?

DW: My supporters take their time... Naysayers?

VF: Even some of your supporters weren't sure if the electorate would turn out for you. Those naysayers.

DW: Ah, well, I have patience. Never a good idea to count your chicks before they've hatched.

VF: Always true in life... On another topic... do you have any events you're planning that you might want to spill a secret about?

DW: There will be a snowball battle next week. I'm hoping the Yuletide season will keep the citizens in good spirits. Then, of course, there is the horse race. Though that is still in the planning stage.

VF: That should be fun! Thank you governor for your time and good luck during your new term.

DW: Thank you and you're welcome!

It was a very exciting election and it was my pleasure to bring you a detailed report on the events of election night. The first meeting of the Third Council of the King will be on Tuesday, Dec 17th at 9 PM CST. Look forward to seeing you there!
