Finally back in action, eighth match of the season, Monday 6th February, as ever 8 PM UK time at the O*T arena in Zento!

Seventh match had some close battles, and some surprisingly quick fights - usually going against the odds when you compared the skills and stats of the fighters! The current leaderboard ;

5 Points : Grimgerde, Lethal Weapon
4 Points : Boadicea, Siegrune, Sky
3 Points : Noir, Camo
2 Points : White Coffee, Camo, Yin, Wimpy
1 Point : Shadow, Dopey, MissMarple, Frosty, TuurdWhacker (who I usually settle for calling 'Whacker' but she gets her full name on the scorecard ), Lazy, Newbie

So still very close, two for the Trinsic stables (Grimgerde and Siegrune) and two for Diddlysquat's stables (Lethal Weapon and Boadicea) sharing the top two places with Tari's fighter Sky joining in at 4 points....

Reminder that it's this evening - if nothing else watching me try to remember how everything works should be mildly entertaining... ;)

And the results ...

Boadicea vs Noir -
Boadicea's never quite lived up to her potential, whereas Noir is s good, steady but not spectacular fighter. Boadicea's break from the arena seems to have sharpened her 'killer instinct' though, and she shrugged of an early lead from Noir to hammer her way back to a very close win!

Geiger vs MissMarple -
Glowing green Geiger looks impressive, and these bright green birds have a good history in the League ratings, but MissMarple is no pushover, and had a slight skills advantage compared to Geiger's slightly higher stats. They both piled in, and fought very hard - a long slog that saw both birds noticably slowing, and the final hit landed when both had completely red health bars - the win going to MissMarple, by the narrowest of possible margins!

Siegrune vs Lemon -
First of the Trinsic birds appearing this evening, Siegrune is going strongly this season, and Lemon was way behind in the betting despite being almost identical in skills and stats. Lemon rushed in first, but both were fighting tactically and not may hits got through until both were on roughly half health, when Siegrune suddenly got her second wind and landed hefty hits on Lemon, who faded quickly under this new onslaught and Siegrune came out the winner.

Wimpy vs Dryad -
Wimpy (who certainly isn't!) had a slight strength advantage over the faster and slightly smarter Dryad, otherwise both fully trained and looking to be a close contest. Unusually, both leapt off the starting blocks and met mid-arena, and hammered away at each other with great energy. A very fast fight, but also remarkably close, Dryad seems to slow but held on and finally, with both birds almost exhausted, landed the decisive blow on Wimpy to grab tight victory indeed.

Lethal Weapon vs Frosty -
Two who know each other from past matches, Lethal Weapon is a challenge to find a match for since her stats are way superior to most birds we have ever seen - but Frosty is always unpredictable, sometimes losing what look like simple bouts and then overturning the odds and winning impossible looking challenges. A quick start, then a long run of blocked attacks, the two steadily wore each other down, until suddenly Frosty landed some of the heaviest hits we've seen in a chicken fight, and a thoroughly stunned Lethal Weapon was not able to recover from the shock and was quickly finished off by a surprisingly aggressive Frosty.

Grimgerde vs Eric -
Eric was maybe the underdog for this one, a big advantage in strength but slightly slower, and a distinct skills advantage to Grimgerde, it all depended on Eric getting in quickly and slowing Grim down. Sadly, Eric really wasn't with it at all, and made no impact on Grimgerde in the first few moments of the bout. Despite coming back a little later on, that poor start pretty much condemned Eric, and although Grim was rather bruised she was never in danger of losing, finishing off Eric while still at roughly half strength herself.

For the novelty fight, pets not often seen in use got an airing - both newly tamed and untrained, Champion the unicorn faced off against Abraxas, a fire steed. The unicorn's magic might offset slightly lower combat skills, but the high magic resist on Abraxas meant Champion needed to heal up her own damage rather than cast spells offensively. she tried, at least twice she healed herself, but an unrelenting assault from Abraxas was more than she could handle, and in fairly short order Abraxas took a comfortable victory. Will be interesting to see how things go when both are trained up though....

So, currently the league stands at :

6 Points : Grimgerde
5 Points : Lethal Weapon, Boadicea, Siegrune
4 Points : Sky
3 Points : Noir, Camo
2 Points : White Coffee, Camo, Yin, Wimpy, MissMarple, Frosty
1 Point : Shadow, Dopey, TuurdWhacker (who I usually settle for calling 'Whacker' but she gets her full name on the scorecard ), Lazy, Newbie, Dryad

Trinsic going well, Bobar's stable close behind, and still all to play for!

Next meeting should be Monday 20th February, as always at the O*T Arena in Zento.
