Sell a instant pet bonding ticket/item. 1 charge, for like 5 bucks.

I vote for a multiple charged tool like the forged metal. Two tiers, priced like the forged metal. Would also love to see it as a high point value reward for the turn-in program... Something along the same line as the dyes.

personally, i don't like seeing them beg for money. If they need more money, let 'em get more players, i think that's the way it works

Hell yea, it shouldn`t take a whole week to bond in the first place.

Also would like to see pet dyes in the shop. I want my black dragon, even if its dark shadow... or blood red.

Have to say no to pet dyes.

As for bonding, we shouldn't have to pay for it.

Everything else in this game has been sped up over the years. It's time pet bonding was too.

I'm sure there may have been a reason for the 7 days wait but what's the point now?

Why not just lower it to 24 hours?

Not a big fan of pet dying. Maybe some kind of armor, but I swear if I see a blaze colored dragon I'm going to scream. As for the bonding, it's never really bothered me. After all, I spent over a year training taming so what's another week?

I think people should just donate money to ea so they can sleep better at night.
That said I'm off to continue fishing. *recalls to ship* oh wait ...what!?

Donate?

Who wants to donate? I have a job, I have money.... do you? I don`t mind spending a few dollars on something I want, be it in a game or at a bar or anywhere I please. You should look up the definition of the word donate in the dictionary because no one in this thread has ever mentioned donating money to EA.

Since there is a cash shop already.... it should get stocked with fresh items every now and again. Insta bonding is a great idea and would be well worth my 5 bucks... or $10.

And oh snap.... Here comes the pet dye po po! :gun:

I also see nothing wrong with natural colored pets. Save the blaze (oh it hurts my eyes) arguements. I don`t want that either.... in EC there is ONE color..... its not rocket science to rehue a few things.... especially in the EC and would be yet another item in the cash shop providing revenue for our great game.

I don't care if they want to shorten the bonding period, but please... no pet dyes.

I bet a lot of games that have micro-transactions wish they could have pulled this off. But unfortunately for them, Valve is probably the only one who could pull a prank like that and not have their fanbase crucify them.

ok ok I blew it.
I didn't type the word Sarcasm next to that sentence.
When I quoted Zeke and added ^This^ I was actually thinking someone might understand I was referring at least in part to his not wanting to pay for a code change to the bonding delay.

I disagree. I don't like the idea that items only for cash are available.
Make it as reward of the Moonglow Royal Zoo Collection.
Let the player do something for an item.

You want it then work for it, to much has been made to easy already
Ok, sorry, just had to comment. Work for what exactly?

You mean to say sticking it in the stable for seven days and feeding it constitutes some form of work. Sure. LOL.

It's a stupid seven day wait and nothing else. Nothing hard or work about it and it's pointless.

Umm working for it is actually taming that Gdragon or whatever ya have.... waiting the week is just plain stupid. It made sense way back when but these days it is a pointless wait that serves ZERO purpose.

You don't have to stable a pet to bond it. There's a huge difference between "don't let it die" and "don't use it at all" Unless your pet of choice is a teeny little bird, there is always something you can do with a pet while it bonds.

What you get at the end of the bonding period is a pet which can't die. All you have to commit to that bargain is a week where you need to be careful. That's nothing. If the period is shortened, then expect it to cost more in terms of your effort. Or that your real skill will be required as qualification for bonding. Merely taming the pet isn't enough - that's what you do to get the critter to follow you and stop biting your backside. Bonding is much more beneficial than that. If it wasn't, we wouldn't have this thread....

But anyone who feels impatient can take their pets right out the stables and do something with them. Or tame a disposable pet to use for 7 days. Or just do something else for a week.

I don't think this is the sort of thing we should pay for in a code. Much as I'm tempted by the thought that impatient people pay for their impatience, I would much prefer an in game solution. But I doubt anybody will be happy if bonding time is replaced with an arduous quest or skill check.

I don't like waiting for a pet Bond either. Bought a gDragon a couple weeks ago, got it out Once, Bond, then re-Stabled immediately. I really like it, but lost interest after waiting all that time. I sorta just forgot about it and moved on to something else. (kinda like the current story arc). 2-3 days woulds be better, imo. As far as $IRL$ for virtual items... I think anything extra sold should Also be obtainable for in-game items - points, gold, the normal grind, etc.

What if the alternative was insurance on your pet. Basically, you would insure your pet for the npc resurrection fee cost. Pets would then be immediately usable after training, but at a cost.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the NPC doing it?

From a pvp standpoint, I don't like it.

IMO there are alot of good points for and against the current bonding period.

I think that it honestly just boils down to impatience and i dont believe thats a good reason to make a big change in this case.

I have never minded spending rl cash for ingame items,upgrades,etc...(ask any broker lol. I made 10k+ selling gold way back for $20-$40 per million and like to give some of that back these days now that im more of a casual player)
but I do think that we would be going down a bad road if we now ask the Devs to start charging us cash just to appease our impatience. I realize that in some ways we already have been doing that but I dont want to see it get out of hand.

At some point we have to balance the true essence of UO which I believe is the satisfaction of working long and hard to obtain substantial goals with the need to make the game more appealing to newcomers who now obviously have alot of other short-term games calling out to them.
It is hard for them to understand that what you get out of UO is alot more satisfying in the long run.

No. You would insure the pet so you wouldn't lose it. You'd still need to get it resurrected by either an npc vet or someone with veterinary skill. This would present a downside to using a non-bonded pet, but still allow their use.

I don't think it would be appropriate to remove the bonding system. It would likely irritate too many people.

No... I refuse to pay one more red cent to EA... for stupid things.

Instead hmm lets seee......

How about a sort of fenced in shrine to pets with a chest for donations that grants bonding of a pet after a heafty donation of items ...oh like bandaids, food, things related to pets.

Depending on the type of pet the donation required would be vairied...
little things like squirls and such 100 fish, 100 apples, 200 bandaids
up to G dragons which would be 1000 Bandaids, 1000 meat, 10k gold

Now that wouldnt make if free .... but it would be do able

Who are you to decide what is considered 'stupid' ?

No offense but havent I seen you post about 1 billion different times begging/demanding the Devs to address your own personal issues? Some might call that 'stupid'

I'd rather wait a week for a pet to bond. I don't see any compelling reason to change that, and I wouldn't make donations to a pet shrine just to speed things up.

Agreed. Plus like most other non-tamer pvpers I have to say I like the fact that a freshly purchased Dread Horse has to be sidelined for a week before he starts wreaking havoc.
If you want to control a 1 beast wrecking machine that just keeps on coming back you should have to endure the minor inconvienance of a 1 week bond. The ridiculously minimal loss of stats means nothing and is easily regained asap.

I still dont understand why the Dread Horses dont have a specific slayer talisman.

1. You are probably going to play this game for more than a week, patience is a virtue too.

2. Except for rare pets that don't spawn anymore, tame 2 of the pet you need, use the lesser one during the week you are waiting for the better one to bond. Problem solved.
