EA, EA - Please Change This!

The title lured you to click, no? :p

This here suggestion thread would be a good place to say "EA, EA, Please Change This!" ... but be sure to list what you think would be brilliant to change, and why.

My suggestion is to go to sandbox for build, either by making everything cost nothing or by gifting all players with just an extraordinary amount of simoleans. It would be a goodwill gesture that might go a long way in terms of getting former EAL/TSOers to move on to other EA properties.

I second your suggestion!!! I always wanted Sandbox (disappointed when DC came out... and look how quickly it failed).

Right now it is practically pointless to skill or make money. I would love to make some crazy theme houses, or visit some, or just have fun without all the AFK and boringness that comes with skilling/money. It would also get people out of those ruts of afk skill/money that they are stuck in.

I want fire.

Does anyone remember the episode of "Little House on the Prairie" where someone was claiming they owned the land of Walnut Grove and everyone had to move? Laura got really mad and broke a window in her house, then had this great idea to destroy all the buildings. The other people may have owned the land, but they didn't own the houses and stores. The citizens of Walnut Grove went from house to to house blowing them all up as a statement to the people taking their land.

Now I know EA is not going to continue to use our houses for anything after the game closes, but I think it would be a lot of fun to let someone with no cooking try to make dinner, or put some curtains by the fireplace, or set off a rocket inside, and then watch my belongings go up in flames.

I want the full catalog back!

My CC tables disappeared today and out of the 2 stores that were opened none had tables and, ofcourse, no one was around to hear my plea for tables!

I'll double what she is offering ...

Not that I ever really played them, but how about re-enabling casino objects, many people seemed to miss them when they were gone.

All my CC from my flowershop is gone, poof! It looks so bare and depressing that I logged out. I loved the look of my shop!
Please Randy restore so we can at least take screenies before we kiss our beloved game goodbye!

First account was closed by EA because they couldn't charge my ancient credit card on that account. Spent two days with tech support to get rid of login error telling me that my game registration expired.

Second account....I'm still waiting on a pending transaction to go through on my bank account so I can call to request a refund because they are indeed charging me again.

Logged in to game to find that all of my custom content I've uploaded this past year is gone.

Continue to freeze up and get booted from home and work lots.

At this point there is little they can do that would entice me to try another EA property. I have my Sim City and Sims games for nostalgia sake but I doubt very seriously EA will be seeing any of my money in the future.

They can't even seem to keep the game running properly enough for me to play until sunset.

Yah, sadly anything we suggest wouldn't be worth it unless the freezing and booting gets fixed.
And, no one has come one to say that they know about this problem are attempting to fix it.

I just wanted to get to the top of the dancer job trek. I only need about 40 shifts to make it, but I can't go to work without freezing.

:p:p

Agree with everyone but i would also like it if they gave us every object in the game and no object limits on our lots. Ive always wanted my size 8 lot FULL of trees like a cabin in the woods but i ran out of object space. Plus ive been slowly collecting the rares in the game. I would love to see them all before we go. Also i MUST finnish the job track! Uggh!

I was still positive to EA and was going to keep playing, but then of course all the cc was wiped from my store and warehouse, and started getting booted all the time.
Not much to do but give up.

These things would be nice to see:

Fix the cc bug
How hard can that be?
There's some database error that makes the stuff not load - put a couple of programmers on this and tell us on the blog that you're TRYING. That would be enough for me.
Whether they succeed or not.
But I guess they can't do that as a gesture of good will, since then there would be a legal issue again... "OMG you promised you would fix it and you didn't!"

Let us upload cc for free
So we can give it away for free.
It's liable to poof anyway.

Put the rare items in catalog
Let us make that forest of trees, or dog pack of pink poodles.

But I dunno, it's hard to think about anything that would be fun, and would be doable for them. I would like the cc awards to happen. But that's impossible of course.

It's depressing imo to choose "salvage" on all your stuff and destroy it in the game, it just feels horrible to see the sim doing that.

But sure, there could be some sort of "natural disasters" that you could choose to turn on.

I remember when the US beta of World of Warcraft ended, they turned it into hell on earth - demons and monsters from the underworld attacked the major cities, people died everywhere, everything was burning. It was truly the end.

But I would want a promise of a future, too.

Honestly, the way the game has been the past week or two, with the disconnections from properties and avatar leasing errors, it appears to me that they turned their back on this game well before word was out that they were shutting down.

I really don't understand what wishful thinking would do, in the end it would just depress everyone because they again are not getting something they fantasize about.

The only reason I continue to play, albeit a lot less that I once did, is because I desire to move up the ranks at the robot factory, but that is hard enough in itself. Not a day goes by when we don't freeze and are booted. Where is the fun in that?

I have resigned myself to the fact that these new bugs won't get fixed and if I am so desperate to achieve this last goal, then I have to put up with the **** that they left for us.

I agree with Rasin and Princess, fix the bugs in EALand, make CC crafting free, put rares in the catalog, restore payouts to pre "improvement" amounts, and restore casino items and payouts.

I've been reading about behavioral economics and neuroeconomics (light reading, no?) One of the concepts that can be applied directly to the EAL Sundown is called the "peak-end rule." People judge a past event almost entirely on how the experience was at its peak and at its end - whether pleasurable or painful - instead of a net average for the entire duration of the event.

So if EA is hoping for running the last players out of EAL with glitches and poor play ability, then they are doing themselves in the long-run a disservice. It might not be glamorous or considered a "value-add" to put resources into the EAL Sundown ... but that kind of decision-making overlooks the long view.

I'll step off my corporatese science soapbox now.

Do we have an email address we can send begging letters to? I'd like to send out one final plea to Pari or whoever is left in 'charge' to switch us to sandbox setting and have someone take a look at whatever glitches are happening for some of us. They DID promise some maintenance til the end. It would be nice to end on a sweet yet sad note, rather than a bitter one.

Heh... You do realize that you're talking about an extremely myopic company that completely lacks the ability to see that a project is having an overall positive effect on subscription numbers, preferring instead to waste a whole year's worth of time and development resources simply because a static snapshot of the game's progress didn't meet some mystical, magical number, yes?

EA, unfortunately, does not know the meaning of long-term commitment. From day one, when TSO failed to meet EA's completely unrealistic subscription figures, rather than try to help the game meet those expectations through advertising and increased development resources, they simply threw the game to the wolves. The only thing that saved it from the same fate as Motor City Online was the Sims name.

Now, here we are again, with a game that showed significant promise, and was actually just starting to get off the ground and take flight (despite EA's refusal to advertise it), EA swooped in and chopped its head off simply because it wasn't learning to fly fast enough.

I'm pretty sure EA is just going to stand back, smugly look at the headless carcass flopping around on the ground, point, and tell its stockholders, "See? This is why we killed it."

As long as EA continues to worship its stockholders while screwing its customer base, I will no longer BE an EA customer.

It's just too bad the suits at EA are too blind to see any of this. But I guess it's hard to see when one has a stockholder's posterior region in one's face.
