Dyeing furniture + wood tag

So the other day I bought some frostwood, to make my display tables somewhat more 'special'.
But I found out that as soon as you dye a furniture item it loses it's wood type tag.

Is this intentional? If I paint my oak floor in real life, it's still an oak floor
.

But if you chop a maplestone, do you get maple, oak, or stone? How about a blackrock infected maplestone?

UO seems to 'figgure out' the wood of the object by the color so if you dye it to another color - it looses that description.

It was likely a 'display hack' they put in to handle the colored woods after the fact since these wood types have not been around for these craftables since day 1.

I think this is a 'best we can do' hack without redo'ing the entire carpentry craftable/display code.

Whenever you see something like that, a wizard did it.

Or...we can just blame Prince Caspian. After all, he broke the GGS system.
