There are two schools of thought to this.
One is that it's now interesting to chop wood again, 'cause there's no longer as much point to hopping from rune to rune, and the "rare" spots are less likely to be camped.
The other is that once the novelty wears off, you realise it's near impossible to get a large supply of the rare woods without chopping for a significantly longer period of time then before... Handing scripters a significant advantage in the field.
On the other hand... Rare wood isn't exactly in high demand, is it? I mean, let's face it, the decorative items you can make out of the stuff are for the most part dyable, and look better without colours anyway.
And as for the weapons/armor carpenters make...
