Dueling Tournament?

Anyone with one of the many duel pits on this shard trying to host a legends based pvp tournament?

there's a notice in the star room about a PvP arena and a gate for it at the Counselor's Hall in Brit on the Felucca side, have you checked that out? betcha EM Helios or EM Tashik might be able to help with getting you set up to host one

Helios, unfortunately never listened to the numerous suggestions about having 1v1 mage tourneys
He tried a 2v2 tournament and proved he couldn't control people interfereing with the duel. The 2 better mages were devastating most folks and the losing guilds audience members attacked them. Helios chose to eject the 2 winners and disqualify them when they were forced to kill audience members. He's got poor judgement when common sense should dictate.

His idea of a pvp contest is a king of the ring fest in which the only real important factor is how many people each guild brings(as guilds inevitably kill everyone not in guilds first with AoEs). Thats hardly much of a fight.

I've never attended one of these tournaments.... used to hold them a long time ago, and they generally dissolved into a free for all, which actually was part of the fun

do have a question for you, tho.... did you make suggestions amid all the ruckus or did you contact EM Helios at a quieter time to discuss it?

Helios heard everything he needed to hear when the pvp discussion was held originally.

As for King of the Hill, thats really just a boring way of saying whoever has the most people on at an arbitrary time gets to win a contest.

I agree with omnius that a king of the hill type event is a weak form of pvp. ( I do not pvp) but even i can see that.

On the other hand I hope everyone who attends the king of the hill event really enjoys themself and if they do that is all that matters

Hopefully someone can get a good 1 vs 1 pvp tournament together that omnius, and many others would enjoy, and then everyone can be happy.

WE all enjoy something a little diffrent, but that doesnt mean that we all cant have our choice of fun without inhibiting anyone elses.

( personally, I would enjoy watching both types of event, a mass free for all will be quite funny to sit back and watch while having a smoke. But a 1 vs 1 tourny would be much much much more interesting to me.)

I hosted fight club for ages handed out millions to the winners then the EM stole the name and the idea

I'm still just dumbfounded that an EM cant squelch casting powers (like they do in the EM Hall) for those outside the arena, and leave the casting powers on in the arena itself.

I'm also dumbfounded that they can't lock up the arena where only the two combatants can enter...kinda like they pull ya in when they want ya, otherwise, you don't enter...

They should have these powers!

I set it up so that if you didn't enter you couldn't get into the arena you had to watch from above tall walls built so spells couldn't get cast down non fighters had to stay on the wall and wait a turn no pets if anyone got out of hand they got booted. We always played for a nice sum of gold tho so no one wanted that, I hope it doesn't turn out to be a mess.

I wish the EMs were allowed to post on stratics, I am told they can't.
But surely they have crowd control powers, that they just don't use?

I have the feeling I am missing something here...
