Dual Hit Spell PvP bow

PvP only exceptional Composite bow - Balanced, SSI 40% DI 1%, Velocity plus..

LD or Fireball?

Which and why? I have heard that there are specific benefits and drawbacks to each. This bow is intended for final burst damage.

If its a kill shot bow fireball as your looking for the damage. For a non kill shot bow I really like the HLD as it makes them easier to hit.

Why fireball instead of lightning for a kill-shot bow?

My guess is property weight in this case. But the OP stated fireball or HLD so I went with what was there.

I have HLD composite, HXB and XB for the run in...all Balanced, 40% SSI, Velocity 50%

I plan to try and use the dual hit spell comp for AI burst damage to finish - with a little help from a variety of complimentary tactics. My understanding used to be that FB interrupted casters better but did less damage than LB - but LB caused a momentary freeze to movement when it was cast - the result being that in open field, you lost your target. Might not be such an issue in the Arena tho..;p

So...any more throughts on FB v LB?

Fireball is better against mages because most people swing a composite at 1.5. The fireball is nice for disrupts.

Lightning Bolt has better damage, by a couple points (well actually depends on their elemental resists, but lightning has better potential).

I prefer fireball unless you're on a stealther in which case I'd say lightning bolt so you can smoke bomb after a hit and not worry about the hit spell revealing you.

That said - if you're looking for a moving shot bow I would not put a hit spell on it, because any hit spell (besides velocity) will make you stutter step when it goes off and you lost 1 or 2 tiles on your opponent.

**coughs**

Being the OP...I intended to ask for preferences between Lighting Bolt and Fireball for final burst damage composite bow kill. I see that I accidentally typed (or got stealth spell-checked?) to LD rather than LB in my original post..pfft

HLD is desireable early on but that final push often needs a little more punch. So let me ask again..Lighting Bolt or Fireball for that last Hit Spell slot?

Lynk has given me some of the info I was really looking for - many thanks L!

Now I have to prioritise my goals with this bow..

Further opinions/experience would be very welcome..

In that case Lynk is right. Again.
