ive allways wondered this.

we can craft dress forms with carpentry as a house add on.

but they serve absolutlly no use.

i got to thinking..... wouldnt it be nice, for those of us who collect anyways, if we could put them up in our houses and put suits on them.

like the suits from days of old (santa and st. patty days)
and of course collection suits and such.

i realise that you can do the same with a merchant, but then you have to fill it up with money, and if life gets buisy and you forget about it you run the risk of losing a irriplaceable item (suit)

and besides that.... we allready have dress forms in game.
why not just make them useable?

just a thought i had as i look at all the different suits i have piled up in my house.

Well i personaly thought they where going to be used to be able to tell what the Mod totals would be, ie dress the form and click it to tell the total resists and mod buffs.

Baring that they would be great to be able to drop armour on them as a way to store various awsome parts for suits...
Example: the new armours on these reds in the current event have awsome armour colors. Some folks may want to collect and display these collections....deco homes, Ect

Hrm, could maybe work kind of like player statues do (easier to implement that way anyways). What would be really nice is if you could drop items on there and get a display that would show you all the accrued mods for the pieces that are on the display (gump, double click to view or whatever). Would make it a lot easier to build suits that way. :)

Our city has a museum and we use vendors to display articles of clothing and armor, this is a great idea.

And for those that are getting ready for Imbueding have boxes full of the better colors. To bad the armor wasn't unique and never crafted by mules. Had the lore and legend crafter resist added already. I know I'll turn one of those red plate sets into a mule suit. Add mage armor and LRC and few small mods.

I had an idea like this that I posted a while ago in the ideas den. I have it saved in a word document at work, I'll try to remember to post it Monday. So, yes I'd like to see something like that come to pass.

Oh yeah nice idea :)

Give us a way to add some text on it like say a $ tag for the shopkeepers out their.
but even just as a display i would use to change outfits on. or better yet double click it and have option to replace outfit worn with one on the form would be handy for that quick change.

Dress Form / Manikin

Creation – Similar requirements to the current Dress Form (Carpentry with some Tailoring?, maybe even some Smithing?).

Art – the piece will either look like an existing Dress Form or featureless NPC(on a base?). With, possibly a male and a female version, since KR has 2 different paper doll poses. May also need race variation to account for Gargoyle figures(if ever introduced)?

Placement – Most likely would need to be a deed. When placing, a direction choice would allow the user to choose the direction the manikin would face(N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW). Dying could work as it does now, dying the item before the initial placement. Re-deeding would not be allowed as long items are present(similar to Elven containers, I believe). Either items placed onto the manikin take up storage(dynamically), in the current house, or placing a manikin takes up a predefined amount of storage(the total amount of item slots?).

Dressing – Adding items to the manikin could work similarly to how dressing vendors work. Security could be set like a container. A beneficial option could be implemented to allow a PC to switch out their current worn items for those of the manikin. This would allow users (RPers in particular) a convenient option to wearing their war suit all the time. A time limit in between switches could be implemented(incase this item could be exploited from excessive switching?). If each item added to the manikin counts towards current storage for the house then switching items out will need to check if there is enough storage available as each item is added to the manikin.

Information – The total of all item properties present could be shown. Either, similar to how item properties show on test center upon mouse over or a ‘Lore’ sheet similar to Animal Lore information sheet. KR has a lot of the item properties, but not all, already built into the character sheet, I believe. The item property ‘Mage Armor’ could appear if there are no items that would block meditation with a similar display for Spell Channeling.

Purposes:
- Crafters showing off their skill/wears.
- A convenient change of pace for those that don’t wish to be garbed for war 23/7.
- Total information available for suit builders.
- A convenience for users with multiple characters that use the same suit.
- A new crafting item for ?Carpenters?
- House Decoration.

I think it would be great if the dress forms could be useful. I mean even those of us that have still the original old ranger armor would like a way to display these pieces besides...flat displays.. or paying a vendor just to stand there to wear the ranger armor gift pieces or the old daemon bone armor or the original *colored per leather type bone armors etc. which we have yet or got *back in the day* as gifts.. in our museums etc.

*adds*

I know also there are players on both shards I play upon whom have over their UO years collected GM smithed armor of names no longer playing uo as collector items too. The dress form if made to *wear* all sorts of clothing or armors would then be extremely useful in many a shards' museums.

Thanks!

This is definately something I would like to see, and would surely take advantage of the display aspects in my decorating. The other advantages I've picked up from conversations with other players. I think that I've sent this in to the Devs at some point. That is really all I can do, it's in their hands to decide whether to do anything with it.

AND the best part (besides not having to pay a vendor) is that you wouldn't have to make your house public to display them!

you should be able to label them too.

so like if you mouse over it it would say what you have labeled it as.

like 'Demon Bone Pre-Patch'

or 'Scout Suit - 2008 Turn in Event'

stuff like that.

I really like this idea .... it would be neat to be able to dress it up in whatever you liked.... much better than having vendors.
