Call me a newby or what you will but how the hell am I supposed to hit him with this thing? It does nothing for me and I cant even toss it on the ground, no types of clicking seems to help, so can you?

just take weapons out of your hand and attack him..so make sure your in fight mode..

Oh them lifestealers are a pain , only because theres so much junk around , other then that a archer works great on them..

Hmm I was in war mode with empty hands, he turned grey as I double clicked him jumping around, clicked charm every way I could think of, I get my ethy mount walking around and finally dismounted when I get back out of area and still not hitting it with repeated restarts of quest, wtf.

Hmm just tried with a new char and same thing, has anyone actually completed this quest ? In it you are asked to hit the lizard with the rock, has anyone done that ?

Yes. I completed it on the first try. I used wrestling, but I hear a staff or dagger will do. It also helps to pull it's health bar and attack the bar.
