At the moment i am far from being able tame them but I would still like to have some info about them. I'm a mage/tamer and was wondering what would the minimum stats needed to tame these & what spells or techniques would i need to use.

My current stats are:

Lore - 85

Taming - 60.7 :$

Vet - 35.7 - Does anyone know an easy way to raise this?

Mage - 53

Eval - 45.1

Med 55.3

There should be a post with all the tame-ables and there ranges in here somewhere....

I would start with para-taming first. It's easiest for your template.

Before you get to taming creatures that can kill you, (drakes can at your current levels) you need to thing about raising your magery and eval to closer to GM levels.

When I was a fledgling tamer I headed to the forest north of Minoc and tamed everything in sight. There are a few monsters but you should be able to handle them (a little gold never hurt) or run from them if necessary.

Another place that is even safer is the bull pens in Jelhom. There's nothing there that can kill you and you'll gain skill steadily.

As for gaining vet...

Tame 2 pets that you can tame and have them fight each other. Bring along as many band-aids as you can carry and heal both pets. At lower level vet you may have trouble keeping pets alive. Try 2 pets that have a good amount of hit points but don't damage each other too much. (Character needs to be unguilded to do this. Could be done on a boat to avoid distractions.)

Drakes are actually one of the worst pets of the pets that require substantial skill to tame.

I'd suggest oging with bakes instead.

What I did for vet at low levels was use the critters I was taming at the time. Tame two, release one and have the tamed kill off the released one. Then just tame, release, kill over and over while vetting the tamed pet. After a while the tame will need to be killed off as it will be too strong and quit taking damage.

two polar bears work well, tame both and have them fight.

ice island is good for taming thou you might still be a bit low for that.

i started taming on my first char 8 months ago and he is 100.3 now, 115 with
bird tali and bracelet.

tamed a lot almost everyday to get him to mid 80's than burned out and took a three month break. now i am back at it but just happy to take daily ggs on kirin's which i donate to the library for points. (look into doing that). tame stuff with a 50% success chance which gives good gains.

while taming u can work your magery up killing off stuff to low to get taming gains off of.

your in for a long hard slog but so were the rest of us.
