Indeed. I enjoyed it alot. Just wish an event, even as simple as an invasion, would happen more often.

Yeah, dumping a ton of mobs into a town is so creative. We've never seen all that before now have we?

Please.

...

To be honest I think the high point was seeing Draconi show up on LS, mention a bit of surprise at the number of people present, then stating "Mow 'em down".

That and his saying out loud "startEvent".

Afterwards for the first evening, it was nothing but lag and death (and lost insurance gold).

You mean tying together a story we've been following in increments together intelligently over several events that have things tied into them never done before as creative... then yes =0

well ...so far ...
No home owners have been inconvenienced ... or "blessed" with the area of concern ... (depends on where house was ...Ophidians)
No one ... so far ... woke up to a house full of spawn on their crafter ... (one of the Orc invasions)
Can pretty much freely travel the lands as accustomed ... maybe a few runes were inconvenienced
Not too many "[youngs]" looting unmolested (Magincia)
The dead seem better at following direction ("Not here, area affect will rez kill you") half screen left and an corp por thx, yw

Higher drop rate on some of the deco ... I mean ...IF I got 1 thread ... (couldn't get a single "book of truth" ... my fault, sure ... STILL got a little bit of everything this one
)

Ran an aid station solo for a bit ...
dropping raw and cooked meat, rezzing and buffing ... one guy asked " what do you get for doing this ? "
Gotta admit ...
was kinda stumped ... Oh ... I Knew, >why< ... but ...
how to put it in words HE might understand ...

yeah ... a "quandry" ... me ... clearly and simply .....................
Fortunately ... a resting paladin piped in: "sometimes you need to give back in"

One of the better events

I'm enjoying the event but... can you explain how this is the storys being tied together because plot wise I can't make any sense of it.

I'm probably missing some large chunks of events but as far as I can recall and probably in the wrong order we've had:

Inu shows up spouting nonsense, as does her rune beetle.
Rats in the sewers with coins.
Some people (I forget who) go camping & go missing east out of brit.
Blackrcok & blackrock gain areas are used by just about everyone (which should mean everyones infected?)
Time rifts in random places all over UO, plus the time lord & the dungeon in Ilsh which had somethign which looked like a wanderer of the void in it which had the ability to cast mirror images.
Yriggor?.. was he anything to do with Inus event?
The Baracoon that spawned in the swamp south of Destard, anything to do with it?
Riccardo, comes, steals, gets locked up. Um etc... something to do with ophidionas and scions?
Books of truth & dark wisps in moonglow.
Daemon berserkers in Maginica.

& that all equals fetid essences and fallen warriors? Plus shadowlords and berserkers and dark wisps in moonglow?

If you can explain that to me please do.

I think it was very well planned and exicuted. The machine, hole, gate and the area of mooglow cut out just the right size. Brilliant. This way moonglow stays as it was and we get a good fight. Poor magicia; loved the ruble though.

Thanks the Ones who got superdragons put in they where big help. We have/had A Uber SuperDragon on Ls taking on 10 breserkers. I really wish I could figure out how to put my pic on here. You all would love it.

Look forward to the next one! Maybe somthing not cursed.

Once the server gave up and telestormed a bunch of people the lag went away on LS. They seem to need to lower the threshold for the telestorm trigger...before that even the monsters were lagging.

Inu shows up spouting nonsense, as does her rune beetle.
She has seen visions of the future (warped time, shadowlords perhaps sending out thoughts). Her rune beetle is intelligent, but can't talk so tries (with difficultly) to communicate with runes.

Rats in the sewers with coins.
Not everything is directly main-plot but I can't help shake the feeling that this was a harbinger of things which have still not yet occurred as the very foundations of the castle are at risk (Inu had some dire warnings about both Brit and Luna)

Some people (I forget who) go camping & go missing east out of brit.
I think this was getting them out of harm's way ... I could be wrong, but it was at a time when there was still a bit of a tug-of-war between the personal and epic stories of Inu.

Blackrcok & blackrock gain areas are used by just about everyone (which should mean everyones infected?)
This was a chain reaction consequence of the shattering of the blackrock piller at the finale of the ophidian war. The "???" that was released and defeated may have been a first attempt by the shadowlords at escape.

Time rifts in random places all over UO, plus the time lord
There really isn't a continental drift simulation in UO ... and I think the map is changing on us. (see below for why a leap in time is required)

the dungeon in Ilsh which had somethign which looked like a wanderer of the void in it which had the ability to cast mirror images.
Another attempted shadowlord escape?

Yriggor?.. was he anything to do with Inus event?
He was sent to shut Inu up. She was getting too close to the truth. (politely assuming she isn't a part of the past plan)

The Baracoon that spawned in the swamp south of Destard, anything to do with it?
My theory is that he was discovered a little too early, when the devs were sneaking some things in to be discovered later ... I believe (without more than a few half-remembered comments on the boards as proof) this was a plotline discarded or adjusted in response to player actions. It resulted in us all being given a copy of "The Shattering" ... which I now wonder may have been a long foreshadow for the concept of an alternate Moonglow?

Riccardo, comes, steals, gets locked up. Um etc... something to do with ophidionas and scions?
Ricardo led us to the discovery of the ophidians and (by stealing an artifact from them) set off the war. I'm not sure if he was intended to be a recurring character or if the devs got a kick out of the player reactions.

Books of truth & dark wisps in moonglow.
Book of Truth and Candle of Love are two of the three artifacts needed to open the Stygian Abyss in UO lore. Keep your ears open for a bell.

Daemon berserkers in Maginica.
UO follows the Ultima game series timeline more or less, but we're nearing the point where we are leaping to the next game in the series. Utima canon has that Maginica was destroyed between games for its pride and rebuilt as a much humbler place. The daemon attack allows us to participate in this event and potentially change the course of history on our shards (not sure how that's going to be handled, but even though it was "saved" in most places, it was also pretty much leveled).

that all equals fetid essences and fallen warriors? Plus shadowlords and berserkers and dark wisps in moonglow?
We now reach the climactic turning point, where the true enemies behind this grand plot are revealed to be the same villains who (ironically enough) are the centerpiece villains of the Stygian Abyss in Ultima lore.

If you can explain that to me please do.
I hope that starts to help?

...

They should bring the rats with coins back as a low-mid level event spawn (but keep them around longer or permanently) with a turn in at the Treasure for consumable items that give you an hour or two buff of some sort.

There is already a turn-in: merchants (and sneaky bankvault-dipping stablemasters) of the land will happily accept the rat coins at par

Wow, Maplestone. That was a wonderful explaination!

I really feel even more excited about this event after reading your post! *smiles*

I needed a cheer-up too, just came home with two stiched areas on my back, and they're starting to be a bit sore. I've got a pillow wedged between me and the computer chair. *laughs*

Yes, for all my critiques about the start of the event, I will say I have been enjoying myself. I still think there are things they could improve upon, but I also think it's great to have event content again! Keep up the good work devs!

That was a most excellent synopsis of somethings I had been questioning. Sooooo even though the books of truth can't be turned in anymore, still retains some potiential value? *I'm still kicking myself for selling blackrock for 1k per piece a week prior to event*

Yes it has, thanks for explaining it.

I wasn't aware it was following UO lore - not that I know the UO lore.

I find it confusing because most events I've been to have been about one group, like dragons/orcs/repond etc then Inu comes along throwing fetid/daemons/wisps/ophids in together.

I am VERY happy that none of the monsters loot corpses.

That way if you die you can get back to your corpse/blackrock without fear of it being looted.

The issue with monster looting (esp at champ spawns) is before you get rezzed, the monster who looted you has already died and its too late to get your stuff back.

I think monster looting should be taken out of the game except for looting gold.

No. Monster looting needs to stay in the game. What a cry baby.............

To keep my other items from getting looted, I keep multiple stacks of 10 gold in my backpack. Most of the time, monsters will end up taking 10 gold instead of something that I want back.

I particularly liked the way everyone around the Blackrock Detector was "blown up" into the time rift. Hopefully I can experience that again soon.

It all ran smoothly for me however I did get a bit excited and started chasing monsters and missed the exchange between Kronos and the Shadowlord, does anyone have a transcript of what was said?
