Does anyone steal items to order?

Just wondering if anyone has ever been asked to steal an item from a certain player??

i know in practice it wouldn't be all that simple but it could add a nice element to the game..........

Drop runes to your house with a message board or forum PM's...

XXXXXXX has a XXXXXXXX i want, steal it and i will pay you xxxxxx for it sort of thing?

you think it could take off?
main application i can think it being useful for is.... faction arties.
a player gets killed and is in statloss, they know xxxxxx has thier crystaline ring but don't want to give them the satisfaction of having it/having to ask to buyback or pay the prices they do it for... PM/ICQ the thief, tell them rough location and the rest as they say is history :) we could undercut the current rate for the buyback still make a tidy profit and have our marks handed to us :)

it may help encourage people to log on a little more often with their siege chars... also could work for assasinations... someone wants someone dead but doesn't want the count or are in statloss... pay someone to do it????

Interesting concept, but by the time you picked up the contract the item in question would probably be locked up nice and snug in a secure somewhere.

I have my doubts as to whether the person looting the item you're hired to steal back would keep it in his back pack for any length of time.

On a side note, and purely for fun, I have promised my Siege chars' hearts to the thief who steals their bacon. Both chars are carrying the valentine bacon with them, and a suitable rhyme has been programmed into the cupid for the occasion. If anyone is light hearted enough to make the attempt my girls are Molly Fyde and Dee Lishus.

I remember, a long time ago, when I first moved to Siege I had one target for days, i just stole everything he had, whether I needed it or not. Anyway, this target one turned around and told me he had fallen out with a guild mate and he would pay me to steal said guild mates fencing weapon.

Sadly I left the game a few days later but it was a nice idea.

Do you remember GhostKnight on Siege?
He used to kill people for payment, it worked too.
Im sure he had episodes but i forget where...

It's a tough call. I suppose it wouldn't be that tough if the person being marked is a person who plays regularly...on the same character, but if you don't, it would be tough to coordinate times in which you both played...and even if that happend, what if they play multiple accounts (ones you don't know about)?

Also, if the request was made on a public board...it would be pretty easy for them to lock everything down until the heat cooled...la

i agree, public board wouldn't work PM perhaps... what you were saying about the players both being on at the same time is what i am getting towards, more thieves / assasins would log on if they knew they had a solid mark they had to hit, or if they got an ICQ while playing then they could react quickly and perhaps get the items before it was banked....

i might just give it a try :)

Personally, I have always liked having a SoS or KoS list setup. Why let others setup your marks when it is soooo much more rewarding to create your own.

PS, next time you see me, click on my profile. I have my on going lst of SoS players and the reasons they are on it from the time I started the shard. It's funny how many of the people on that list no longer play...la

Well, if you do decide to open this business, I've got a little bit of advice for you. Keep the plan between only you and the guy who hires you.

While I was cross-shard stealing about a month or 2 ago, I eventually x-ferred to pacific. While I was there, I met a guy who hired me to steal a diamond mace from his old GM. It turns out that this guy was the same guy who I stole a sick one-of-a-kind kryss from on atlantic almost a year before. Because of this I told him I'd do it for free. Plus, it's quite a sad story.

It seems that the GM of D0S-, Kaladan (aka Dark Sith), screwed over his own guild member. This member forgot to insure his PBD'd dmace (which was pretty bad ass) when he used it on his other char. He was killed, and Kaladan looted it. Not only had this guy lost his best weapon, but he lost his PBD too. He then kicked him from the guild, along with anyone taking his side.

The plan was simple. Get me in D0S-, convince Kaladan to sell, i stealth by his vendor and wait for the uninsure, then *swipe*.

The guy who hired me rounded up as many people in the guild as he could to help out. According to him, all except about 4 members (this includes Kaladan himself) were in on the plan.

So finally everything is in place. Our inside guy is online, I'm online, and Kaladan's online. I use a disguise kit, because Kaladan knows I'm a thief, and I'm put in the guild by one of the emissaries on our side. The guild gets to work on convincing him to sell, while I stealth near his vendor. Suddenly, I notice I'm no longer in the guild. It turns out that someone squealed to Kaladan before I could make the steal. Because of this, Kaladan became more paranoid than ever over the weapon, making it too much of a hassle for me to try to steal it.

However, he loses in the long run. I mean, think about it. D0S- is a large guild on pacific, and he's the GM. What's it say for him if nearly his entire guild is willing to let a thief in to steal from their own GM. Pretty pathetic Kaladan.

So that is why you should not try to get as many people as you can to help out...just the bare minimum.

Thanks for the heads up... I will offer a strict NDA (non disclosure agreement) between me and my client...

i am hoping that if the idea catches on and i make episodes (showing only the steal and all names will be removed) and prove it works, then maybe, just maybe there will be more people appearing, and if i can branch out and hire some other players to perform assasinations for me then that could make even more chars, i might start a school where i help fund the training of the assasin chars and when they are up to scratch they do the killing for my clients and get a cut of the profit! again.. more new players on siege :)
