Does anyone play KR?

I have been playing it a bit since the legacy art port, and I have noticed its quite a bit faster. Not that you can move forward faster, but that you can turn MUCH faster. For me in 2d there was always the little lag that occurred when you tried to turn and keep running, that doesn't exist in KR.

Its also very nice for crafting.

I've yet to try anything very active with it, such as pvm or anything, but it seems like its really coming along. Now that I don't have to look at the awful KR item art I might actually consider playing it more often.

Most of my problems with it are involved with the crappy parts of the interface. The items being too small, the free form backpack having issues about where items land where you drop them. The annoying avatar art is something I can deal with, so are the weird shadow issues. They aren't so distracting that they draw my attention away too much.

Anyone play KR a lot? Have much luck with pvm?

I agree. When I saw that thread in U. Hall showing the 2D art in KR compared to the native KR art, I loaded it up and waited through the 2 hours of patching. Once it came up I was very surprised at how much better things looked. I played around for probably an hour and didn't experience a single bug. I made a few macros and did some PvM. Everything worked great.

All in all, as much as I hated the KR client at first, I am very impressed at the progress they've made. It's very apparent that they have been very hard at work trying to make people happy with this client. There is still quite a bit that needs done, but it is finally to the point where I would call it a beta. Maybe in 6 months they will be ready for a gold release product.

I had a chance to play KR most of a day before I went back out to work.

I too was very impressed with the progress. The latest patch has greatly improved both the performance and the look, with the 2d artwork, of KR.

I look forward to giving it some more playtime.

Yeah really my main complaint with it when it came out was visual. The item art was so bad it was comical, although I did/do like a lot of monster art.

I think I just need to use the new interface a bit, and get used to it before I can really comment on how goo/bad it is.

They do need to adjust the size of the container art, they're HUGE.

I can see myself using KR at some point in the future when they get it more finished. After working with the macro system for a while, I do like it quite a bit. Certainly more powerful than the 2D macros and in most ways as good as UOA. There is still some work needed there and I have no doubt they will address that as well.

Yeah see I never used UOA, so I don't even know what im missing. Heh. I know you can do potions and other items like that with a key push which is nice.

I would probably use agility potions if I could use them with a macro.

and yeah the container art is huge, and the item art is tiny. I'm also looking forward to the day they get the hueing system up and running.

I dunno, I have kept kr patched I've tried to play it but I'm so laggy I can't even leave the house I read up on the graphics tweaks and I adjusted the settings but nothing helps... I'm running a p4 2.4gig with 1gig ram and 256 onboard video all with current drivers... I just can not get uokr to preform they way you are describing I can hardly move when I do log into it...

I am in the same boat as you. I will keep trying. Until then... I will kill you in 2D or die there.

weird. I was laggy on it before the last big patch, but now its smooth as silk, and like I said movement is noticeably better in KR.

Ive got 2.8 (if I remember right) 1 gig ram + geforce 7900 256mb. Runs great.

prolly. Its a nice board, runs pretty much anything well and not too expensive as that kind of thing goes.

I actually downloaded and tried KR yesterday.

Lasted all of 5 mins & changed back to 2D.

I also tried KR for the first time yesterday, and as much as I absolutely can't stand the way it looks...I seem to run much faster using the KR client also.

I tested it a bit last night running laps around the Luna GZ area, and I was averaging almost 1.5 seconds faster using the godawful KR client.

I wouldn't put it past them to give KR users an unfair advantage like that if it helps to force more people to use the new client.

Make sure you go into settings and check the "use legacy artwork" box.

It makes a world of difference in how KR looks. With the legacy artwork, house tiles and items look just like 2d. It helps a lot with how KR looks to players who want it to look and feel more like 2d.

yeah, the whole reason I tried it again was the fact you can use 2d artwork.

The 2d/kr mix actually looks pretty good.

I can run around in it, I've only got an AMD XP 1700+, GeForce 4 420MMX and 650mb ram. If anyone wants to try my settings I'm happy to list them in a pm.

One thing I did find made a dramatic difference was turning off 'show frame' in windowed view.

I decided to go out hunting using KR. It wasnt TOO bad, but over all 2d is still superior in that aspect.

My "all kill" macro was unresponsive, almost never worked on the first try, the one click looting is also unresponsive, often takes 2-3 clicks. I died several times because I didn't even noticve the creature attacking me.

Now I was just hunting mage lords. I'd hate to try it against something that required more precision like a miasma or whatever.

It is much better than it was though.

I've had the same problem, though it's the targetting system restrictions that stop me using my tamer. I can't keep a bandaging macro targetted on the pet.

I've successfully used my Europa warrior in KR, and am gradually beginning to learn to watch for the red glow that briefly denotes an attacking mob.

On Siege I've only used it for mining. Vendor stocking in it is a total impossibility.

Basically, I'm making an effort to learn how to use it because I forsee a time when it will be 'use it or quit', but until that time comes my client of choice, and the one I spend 90% of my game time using, is 2D.

Well, when I started it up after this last patch, it crashed every 30 seconds.

When it didn't crash, it ran great. -_-
