Does anyone know why the New Magincia commodities/pets vendors were left out of the global search ?

Is there a reason why the New Magincia commodities/pets vendors were left out of the global search ?

Are there plans to include them at a later stage, not just those selling, but also those buying ?

Because apart from the little marketing fuzz from Broadsword the game is resources-wise still in maintenance mode. Little team of developers means little input on ideas. And at the time they ask the players for feedback, the systems are usually broken beyond recovery (Everybody loves the new despise right? The dupe detection? The 1000 different non-stackable refinements?).

It's an reoccuring pattern. Once you realize it, you never ask yourself such questions again.

There are so few of the vendors actually active that you can manually check them all in about 5 mins.

I think the whole rational behind a vendor search is that player vendors have no fixed location/inventory. Thus knowing where a particular vendor selling item x is becomes very difficult. That is not the case with the Magincia stalls. They have a fixed location. If you want to search their inventory ingame there is a process for that. It's called go there and look.

back when they where discussing the vender search this was brought up and the reply was that they are 2 totally different codes and such, so basically they would not be able to talk to one another.
so the short answer they gave was no, in fact i believe the exact reply was.... never.

Because the commodity vendor system is half baked and buggy and gets no love.
I guess they already got the money for those of us who bought the Gothic or Rustic theme pack to use it...that they can ignore the system in its entirety now even if bugs were reported from day one.
Forget giving customers who paid extra any extra consideration. Lol.
And all this comes from a guy who loves (or at least loves the potential or the vision of commodity vendors) and keeps trying the bug ridden system even though some of the bugs and abuses have made some players quit completely.

They are different systems.
Ok, I can understand that.

Besides, it leaves room for "hope" that perhaps, sometimes in the future, they will be included in the global search.

Sure, one "can" go phisically to New Magincia and check them out BUT, it is handier an a considerable more time saver, to have the search engine check them all out at once and even sort prices of commodity wanted by lowest.......

Also, it would especially be handier in case of "buy" requests.....

Say that I have an extra surplus of iron ingots, I check from home whether there is up any "buy" request for iron ingots and if there is, and I like the price indicated, I turn my iron ingots into a deed, go to the New Magincia commodity buying vendor and sell them.... Would take like 5-10 minutes to do it all.....

As it is now, instead, I have to first go to New Magincia, check out all vendors to see who is buying and what, then go back to my place and get the commodity and then go back to New Magincia to sell it. It would take way more then if the commodity vendors were included in the global search......

So, there is a reason to include them also, IMHO.

The purpose of the vendor search is so that all vendors, regardless of location, can be visible by all players. The system eliminates the imbalance between Luna vendors and those which are off the beaten path. New Magincia vendors are, well, in New Magincia and differ slightly from player vendors. There also are no "prime locations" for the New Magincia stalls which would give anyone an upper-hand. It isn't exactly tedious to walk around that place so don't try to make it sound like an overbearing task. If it's easy to code into the vendor search system, sure, let them add it. Otherwise, it really isn't a major necessity.

I can understand your point, popps, but what about changing your method. Deed the ingots FIRST, then go to New Mag and sell or not. Doesn't take that long to know which broker typically gives the best deal, so even that is a timesaver.
Just go PREPARED to sell when you go look, and the two trips become one....
Or, as the mystics would say, "Become one with your trip" and enjoy the scenery along the way.... You never know who you might meet on that short journey with the potential of becoming a friend...

May be a bit of topic, but not too far sooo...
Most of the people responding seem to be of the mindset "why use the commodity vendor at all".
It is tough to argue with that mind set and here is why (and again this comes from a guy who has used them, still uses them, and loves them for their potential)
DRAWBACKS
It costs money to buy the expansion pack to run a commodity vendor.
You pay a higher weekly fee (5% per week on commodity vendors s a roughly 4.2% per week on regular vendors) for having items on your commodity vendor.
You pay an extra commission of 5% per sale.
You have to keep bidding on your stall to maintain the vendor where as the people bidding against you lose nothing to do so unless they win the stall...so that is a weekly hidden fee.
Bugs that go unaddressed publish after publish after publish.
And most recently, you will not be included in the vendor search...supposedly because they are different systems and don't talk to each other which is utter bullcrap because more than half of programming is making different systems talk to each other and compiling and disseminating information from different sources so it is like saying "They won't be included because we can't program worth a darn."

BENEFITS
You can buy stuff from players without interaction albeit it with another 5% commission fee but since other vendors can't do it we will still list this as a benefit despite the fee.
Your customers can buy 1 or 13 or 100 or however many they need without having to buy extra. On a regular vendor you pick the quantity they have to buy and they can take it or leave it. Some people don't like buying more than they need and having to store or sell off the rest.
With the stalls, you have what was supposed to become a central commercial location though that really never panned out, but we will still list this as a benefit.
From the customer point of view, they become a way to make gold and be a part of a cooperative vendor without any risk.

SUMMARY
So basically you pay real money and extra fake money for the honor of grief and running one of those vendors.
Why do I do it? Because I think it provides a service to your shard. If you run it with a tight margin between your buy and sell products, and keep sell prices so most of your items sell off within a month and keep buy prices so it is still lucrative for other players to sell to your vendor...you have created a constant and consistent economy and resource for many player types and if you are lucky, you end up with a modest percentage for yourself.
But that is my philosophy, and, judging by the way some of the other people use the vendors, I am in the minority.
I think the commodity vendor should be scrapped altogether and anyone who bought those expansion packs be refunded part of their money.

I have read this thread from start to finish. some interesting thoughts but nearly all are wrong.
I got the opportunity to talk directly with Mesanna about this very issue
The exact problem is that he magincia vendor system uses a different system all together and it is completely incompatible with the vendor search.

I do have to point out that the comment that the magincia vendors are easy to get to and no vendor gets and advantage over another is not acetate. you can not forget there is a magincia in fel as well and because of the danger of going to fel most people will never travel there just to see if a vendor on the fel side has the item they want. so i hope some day they are able to add the magincia vendors to the system or make a whole new search that will work with the magincia vendors.

I am probably the most active person using the magincia vendor system and its a great system. I have seen numerous additions and fixes to the system. some as recently as the last patch or so. fixing an issue with green thorns not being able to be posted every shard. Not saying the system doesnt still have glitches but they are being looked at

That's a really good point and idea. But I did kinda like not so many people knowing about it. I got some good deals there :p
