Does +4 Mysticism raise my skills?

I found a ring that has +4 Mysticism attribute on it. When I put the ring on, my skill level points don't go up (and I have room for them to). Is this not how it works?

What´s your real Myst skill at now and which Myst PS have you eaten?

Real 83.3. PS 120. My total skill points are 650. I'm raising other skills. I just gained an eval int.

Showing skills will go up, not real skills - as long you are below your skill cap.

Are you using the EC?
By default the EC shows your real/unmodified skill values, so you need to click on "Show Modified Skills" in the skill menu to see if the +4 Mysticism is correctly applied.
Note that this setting should only affect the display: your skill bonus should be applied anyway as soon as you equip the item, you just can't see it if you don't use this option.

(In the CC it's the other way round: by default you will see your modified skill, and there's an option to show the "real" value)

Yes, Sir Bolo. I am using the EC. And changing to "modified" showed me that it's working properly. Thank you for the clarification! Sure makes casting that Raising Colossus much more likely. Those things are TOUGH. I am well on my to being a kick-butt Mystic Mage, and therefore taking much fewer dirt naps than in the past!

And a quick shout out to my template mentor Han for first SHOWING me up front and personal that he can take on a bunch of dragons and greater dragons without dying and therefore proving to me I could do it (I was hidden shaking in my anniversary sandals). (wish they had that handy "tag" feature so I could make sure my buddy saw me praising him)
