Do young players still get teleported to the middle of nowhere when they die?

This has happened to me before. I'm showing some new/returned player on a young character around a dungeon or whatever and it's going fine. Then they accidentally manage to die. No big deal, right? They won't lose anything and I can just rez them right up.

Me: Go into combat mode so I can see your ghost.
Newb: I'm in some town.
Me: Oh crap. Which town is it?
Newb: I don't know. Oh I rezzed.
Me: Great, recall back to New Haven.
Newb: I just started, I don't have a rune.
Me: Just use the moongate.
Newb: Where's that?
Me: Kind of outside of town, to the left.
Newb: I can't find it.
Me: Just sit still, I'll find you.

Randomly teleporting newbies halfway around the world with no explanation or way of getting back was sort of a really terrible idea. I wonder how many trial players have died alone, then been teleported to the moon, only to run around lost for 15 minutes, then finally log out, never to return.

Has this been fixed yet? If not, newbs should be forced to start in New Haven and should be sent to only the New Haven healer upon death. Sending them to Minoc or something means you may as well send them to Mars.

I think it simulates real life. Get killed wake up with a couple smelly guys in robes putting bandages on you. No seriously, yeah it should be a choice; but some people may abuse having a free item container that can effectively act like 125 blessed items if you can manage to rez it. They just need to remake their account every 15 days.

Wait, what does that have to do with where you get teleported when you die? A trial character being used as a container wouldn't die at all, they woud just sit in town. This isn't even parsing for me.

Its better than having to walk around trying to find a healer. Lets them learn to explore the new world they are in. Tell them to get rid of the young player status and it wont happen.

Which is why they should be teleported to the Haven healer when they die. That way they know where they are once they're rezzed. They shouldn't just be dumped into Minoc or something so they can run around an abandoned city wondering if anyone else plays the game for two hours.

Having a carefully-constructed newbie experience with quests and a forthcoming dungeon is great. Throwing those newbies out on their butts to "explore" some empty city if they die during it is the most pants-on-head thing going in UO.

Recently I got a 15 day trial for my grandson to start building some chars... Since we're in the middle of the latest Haloween changes, we decided to use a couple of his slots for char names we wanted to get zombie bones for. So the players are "[Young]" and every time they die - they are always transported to whatever city is closest and they always land in the Healer's shop, so they can immediatly get a rez... What's wrong with that?
