I honestly haven't had any problem with it other than having trouble trying to reset or recover a password that I had forgotten for my account.

Thus, I had to vote for your obviously biased No option. While I voted for that option, I must say that I have never been miserable with it but am not opposed to a new system.

I echo your words. I never found it bad at all, perhaps that it isn't intuitive about adding a "_uo" suffix. Once I did, linking my accounts was easy. It's also an extra security measure in case someone manages to compromise a login and password, because changing the password would require compromise of the master account.

I loathe it as far as updating your credit card. What a royal pain in the ascii code! It makes Microsoft Windows ME look like a joy.

I don't recall who it was, but once someone pointed out that billing info can be deleted on the Origin Store, I had no problems afterward. That's something else unnecessarily non-intuitive.

Please vote simply YES or NO - this should make everthing pretty clear
There is no simple yes or no simple no. I just can see an emotionally contaminated yes and an emotionally contaminated no.

With that said, i never understood the uproar regarding the account management. Usability could be better, but nevertheless it does what it should do.

Talk about a loaded poll. :p

I have to be honest, I don't understand most of the hate it gets because I've never had trouble personally. I have my two accounts linked to my master account and can manage both from there. I think I've been there once or twice in perhaps the entire time the new system has been up which was to update card details. I don't really see how that is complicated either, you just hit "Update Renewal", choose a billing cycle and instead of picking the prior saved card details you choose "Credit or Debit Card" and provide your new details. *shrug*

The only thing I've heard which sounds like a genuine complaint is the limit on the number of accounts you can link. Some people have a ridiculous number of accounts which may affect them, but that's a non-issue for me as I only have two. Still, the system should support as many accounts as people want to link.

Based on my experience with the system and observations of others, I think there's room for improvement but I also feel that people's ineptitude and inability to be able to perform simple tasks is too readily blamed on "the new account management system" too when the actual issue is probably at the user's end.

I said Yes I loathe it, but really my only opinion is that it definitely has room to grow a lot and be better. I don't loathe it though.

I have not had any issue with the basics of how(I think?) they intended the website to work. I do see areas for improvement. I won't vote yes or no, but I would not mind seeing it improved.

In general I find it cumbersome, but so far it seems to work for me.

Added: I guess thinking about it, with what I know now I can get most things done. But when I first came back it was a bit of a nightmare and a real turn off. Honestly I've never seen anything like it with any other game. I tended to bounce between Origin and UO and not really sure what took care of what. I'd get a password retrieval for Mythic, find out it didn't have much to do with UO and such. So I think now I'm a veteran of it, it doesn't seem too bad. Being a right off the boat newbie, it probably walks you through it better. Being a former player trying to come back it's a bit of a nightmare getting it all synched back up, lol.

I'll echo what a few others said, I've personally had no issues with account management but it could use some simplifying.
The one time I had a problem due to no longer having acess to an email account, I emailed broadsword and within a day or two they linked the account to my current email.
So wont vote no simply cause its a silly option.

Are we talking about Healthcare.gov or the payment system roll-out that seemingly made a Producer go "poof?"

I've posted a couple of times about six codes one can receive from the Origin Store site, which can be used to regain access to a Mythic account should the e-mail account no longer be accessible. I don't know how long that's been around, but it's well-thought for the occasional person whose e-mail account is hijacked or otherwise locked out.

You know that's actually against the Terms of Service, right? I don't really expect them to easily support that.
I've never heard of that. Where is it in the TOS?

There's nothing I ever saw that forbids giving an account to someone, or allowing someone to use it:

"You are solely responsible for all activity on your Account. Your Account may be terminated if someone else uses it to engage in activity that violates the Terms of Service or is otherwise improper or illegal. You should not reveal your Account password to others."

"Unless expressly authorized by EA, you may not sell, buy, trade or otherwise transfer your Account or any personal access to EA Services, Content or Entitlements, including by use of auction websites."

That part's necessary ever since eBay auctions were forbidden. But if you call up and a rep unlinks an account, then EA has consented.

It's actually in the rules:
Rule 14 said:
You will not share your account password or account details with anyone
And, you know, the part from the ToS you quoted tells you plainly that you can't transfer ownership of an account through any means unless expressly authorized:
Unless expressly authorized by EA, you may not sell, buy, trade or otherwise transfer your Account or any personal access to EA Services, Content or Entitlements, including by use of auction websites.
That doesn't specifically relate to the sale or auctioning of accounts, it applies broadly to transferring access through any means. This change is partly why Stratics stopped the posting of RMT trades many years back.

Unlinking an account for the purposes of giving it to someone else isn't supported because EA doesn't intend you to share accounts or transfer ownership, hence why it's not part of the system. Nor should it be judging from the drama we get in here occasionally when someone returns and whines when an account they've given away isn't returned to them because they voluntarily chose to violate the rules and share their password/access.

TOS in general is just to say whatever goes wrong it's not our problem and your not getting your money back. ;)

Even if EA bothered to ban anyone (it's a necessary legal clause but they'd never enforce that with the guaranteed exodus of customers), asking for an account to be unlinked isn't "sharing," but transferring ownership. EA knows it's to its benefit to put in legalese that any software company does, yet not worry about players sharing accounts. And as I said, an EA rep unlinking an account is the company giving consent, in the absence of the old official transfer system.

I was unaware it made someone go poof. if you mean they lost their job because of it. I suppose I would have made them fix it instead of getting rid of them. *thinks* Calvin?

Do you remember back in the day they had Account Access Transfer Service? This is copied from the website courtesy of the Wayback Machine:

Origin Account Access Transfer: Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I get Origin to officially transfer access to a previously used account I just acquired?
Origin does not encourage players to transfer or trade access to accounts. If you got access to an account this way in the past, we have no record or proof that the account may legitimately be used by you, or that the player who created the account has given you permission to use the account name and password. So, we've created this process as a service to our players. By going through this transfer process Origin can verify that the account is in your name (i.e. you have the former player's permission to use it).

Will I have to pay to have the official transfer handled by Origin?
Yes, there will be a fee of $25.00. The new Player will be charged this fee at the time you (the new Player) is contacted by Origin to verify the transfer. There official transfer form is available here. This charge will be applied to the credit card you plan on using to pay your monthly subscription.

Do I need to get Origin involved in the process of transferring access to pre-existing accounts?
No, Origin does not get involved in any transaction or agreement between you and another player. Nor are we responsible for any dispute that may arise. If you choose not to use the official Account Access Transfer service created by Origin, and a dispute over the use of the account ever comes up we may not be able to determine the who rightfully has access to an of account and the account could be terminated as a result.

If I acquire access to an account from a player that has been reprimanded in the game and I get Origin to officially transfer the account, does the official transfer take off the reprimands that the other player acquired on the account?
Yes, if you use the Account Access Transfer program Origin has provided, any and all comments and infractions on the account will not affect your standing in the game once the Account Access Transfer process is completed. What this means is any comments on an account prior to the transfer will not affect your standing with Origin.

Will I be able to play on the account while waiting for the transfer document and payment to clear Origin?
Yes, you will be able to access an active account if the former player has provided you with the name and password, but be sure to change the password, billing, and account information by going to the Ultima Online Account Management Web page at https://www.ultima-registration.com/.

What if I want to transfer access to multiple accounts from the same person? Will I be charged for each account?
If you acquire access to multiple accounts from the same person you can get them all officially transferred as one transaction (up to 3 accounts per transfer). There will be only one transfer fee charged to you.

Let's say I just acquired access to an account and used Origins Account Transfer Program. Will I be able to transfer access to the account through Origin to someone else?
We do not control how many times access to an account is transferred or who can play on an account (it is up to you to control your own password), but you cannot use the Account Access Transfer Program to transfer access to the account back to a previous Player of that same account. The Account access will be marked as being officially transferred in our database system.

Can I transfer my account access to a player who has been banned from Ultima Online?
No. Both the former player and the new player must be considered “in good standing” by Origin Systems. This means that neither player involved in the transaction may have been banned from Ultima Online. Additionally, you should keep in mind that allowing a member whose account has been terminated (or “banned”) to access the service through your account is a direct violation of the Ultima Online Terms of Service Agreement.

What are the Steps I need to take to get an account officially transferred by Origin?
1. Before acquiring access to an account, the new Player should inform the Former Player that they wish to use Origin's Official Account Access Transfer Program. The new Player must send the former Player the URL (http://www.uo.com/docs/Origin_Account_Access_Transfer.zip) for the account access transfer document and ask them to print and fill out the document and mail/fax it to them.

2. The Former Player will then print the document and fill out the "Former Player Information" section of the document (In Full) and send it to the new Player by mail. The reason for the mailing is so Origin has actual signatures from both parties. The document may be faxed or mailed to the new Player for signature.

3. The new Player will fill out the "New Player Information" section of the document (In Full) and in doing agrees to the Ultima Online Terms of Service and the Rules of Conduct. (Whenever you play Ultima Online, you must agree to the Terms of Service and Rules of Conduct for the game.) The document must be mailed or faxed to Origin Systems Inc.
Origin Systems Inc.
5918 West Courtyard Drive
Austin, TX 78730
Attn: Account Access Transfer Department
Fax# (512) 795-8014

4. Once the document is received by Origin, the former Player will be contacted by phone to confirm the transaction is authorized. Origin will also contact the new Player to verify the transfer information and assist the new Player in changing the billing and account information into their name. At this time the new Player will be charged a $25.00 fee for the official transfer on the credit card used to pay for the account. (If there are any issues of any kind raised by either party the Official transfer will not take place until the parties resolve the issues. Origin will not intervene in any manner in such disputes)

5. Both parties will be sent an E-mail stating that the official Account Access Transfer is now complete and documented in Origin's database and the account now officially may be accessed by the new Player.
The official Account Access Transfer form is located here.

As I am in the pool of those that have had no problems with the system at any time, and I'm not miserable over it, I did not vote. Personally, these type of polls should be unemotional and just fact based. Yes, I've gone in and changed my CC info and etc, etc. and with no issues. Perhaps I'm just lucky. Or perhaps I navigate it really well. Everyone has their own experience and perceptions so I'm not going to downplay the issues anyone is having with it; I'm not against a revamp of it, if there will be one in the future. I'm sure that one will be just as user friendly to me as this one is.
