Do regs really provide sdi?

I remember sometime ago there was an idea to make regs useful which is a sdi bonus if you cast spells off regs. Anyone know anything about this? And if so what % does it give and so on. Thanks.

I was wondering that myself just the other day. Seems like it did make it into a late-summer publish maybe in 2008, but I was too lazy to go looking at publish notes to see whether I was remembering things correctly.

It was a player idea as I remember. It was talked and ranted to death, but was not ever actualized in game.

I think it was originally intended to be a part of the PvP publish some time back (the one that added tactics requirements to specials).
Using reagents was going to give you 10%SDI.
The list of changes was leaked, and that was one of the decried changes, and so didn't make it in.

Yeah, that's what I remember too. I guess that came up during the summer of 2007 right after KR came out; not 2008. How time flies.

2007?
Was it really that long ago?

I don't know if it was ever explained whether it was pulled for balance reasons, or whether it was too complicated to wiggle in next to LRC, which would have worked as a % chance of nerfing away 10% SDI, while keeping people happy.
I thought it was a nice idea, personally.

Even if the sdi bonus really existed I dont see it to be unbalancing in anyway shape or form. (at least for today's Ulcher Online gameplay).

I personally think regs dont give 10sdi but I had someone swore to me that regs really give 10sdi but dont stack with inscribe.

Curently not true
confirmed.

But its a good idea. well was. nowadays theres not much disadvantage in having LRC propeties in your suit, but two years ago it would have worked better.

Introdusing sdi on regs now would mean everyone with their already made LRC suit would pick up regs aditionally. when out or newly ressurected they would use the LRC.

So kinda useless methinks.

if true it would be interesting to see the tweek to suit builds. you probably still run aof and folded for the sdi but gorget, sleeves and legs are free of the lrc which allows another more desireable mod to be added. not to mention you tend to get better resists on pieces that dont have lrc.

LRC requires a brief delay to draw the reagent powers from the bonds of the material. So having the reagents in your pack actually allows the caster to more quickly form the spell....

OR ATLEAST THATS HOW IT SHOULD BE. ARGH.

Heh wishful thinking. That would definetely be useful.

SdI bonus would be nice but even if they implemented it it would be low like 5% not sure if that would be more useful than 100 LRC suit.

Bad idea at the time, fantastic idea now. This should be implemented now that mages have become underpowered in comparison to the majority of templates.

The idea of regs giving a SDI bonus was part of the stuff that I believe Mr.Tact had talked about implementing. There was major outcry from the Stratics population over the majority of the proposed changes and I think only a few things actually made it into game...and that was months and months after the original idea was floated around.

I also seem to remember that Diminishing returns was part of the idea. The way I remember it(and I have slept many nights since then so my memory is fuzzy at best...hehe) was that most special moves and a lot of spells were subject to this form of diminishing returns, along with pots. I think him(or whoever came up with the idea) wanted to make it so that every action scaled down in effectiveness to a certain point before it would reset......all I can say is that I am soooooo glad that most of the proposed changes were discarded because myself and a few others were on the verge of quitting UO because of it all.
