Do Inscription tali's really help with crafting spell books?

And next question... real or display magery? I can't remember getting a clear answer on this

From what I have been able to ascertain, no one is sure if it's real magery that matters or if jewelry will increase your chance of getting better mods.

From what I've read, however, it seems that most people believe that it's based on real skill.

To be specific, tally only increases the success chance (and right now, exceptional bonus isn't applied to inscription).

Higher magery is a different matter; it can boost mods and intensity.

Ahh, hmmm...not sure about that. I remember seeing different reports. Mine is real skill.

when you take the talisman off the %chance does go down.
at gm level you ahve 50% chance to make a spell book and 5% exceptional.

i put talisman on and it goes up to 71 and 26. (21% except and reg bonus)

i do make a lot more exceptional with talisman then without.

Even without a tailisman I seem to get 15-20 exceptional books out of the 120 I make each time. Kind of odd.

Talisman's for any craft (as stated by Dev's anyway) only help with the success/failure rate to create the item, and the chances of making that item of exceptional quallity if the talisman has that bonus on it too. However.......I have noticed that while enhancing, it does seem that the success rate is higher while having the appropriate talisman equipped than without. I've tried it both ways multiple times on all crafts with enhancing, and the number of successes with the talisman far exceeded the number without, so in my case anyway, the talismans sure do seem to help in this regard.

Try without a tali that boosts inscription and you fail a lot more without a boost so i would say it does help only in that you dont outright fail making a spellbook as often

Displayed Magery - I have 105 magery and use the Tome w/+15 magery and I can craft spellbooks with 3 properties which is only available to 120.

Have hard time deciding what the inscription talisman does now that I am GM but prior to reaching gm I could definitly see that I had more success crafting spellbooks with a good talisman than without

I recently worked up my Scribe, and at 106.7 magery skill, no jewels or other enhancemants, I was able to craft 3 mod spell books. In fact I am still on my way to GM scribe, so I craft spellbooks occasionally and I do get 3 mods here and there.

And as for talismans, the above posters are correct, it helps your % change to actually make the spellbook, but has no effect on the mods (intensity or number of).

As to the question of real skill vs. displayed, I do not know. A couple of years back, I had a Mage with 90 real magery skills and mods up to 120 skill and the spells that were magery based, like mindblast, went off real skill, NOT displayed. I ended up taking him to 120 real skill.
