Do I need to lock down my ladders?

I'm moving into a new house, and I was placing ladders. I know I didn't lock them down in fel, but I locked one down in tram without thinking. It locked down. I went to fel and checked but none of them are locked down there.

I guess I'm a lil' paranoid but I'd really like the ladders to still be here in the morning.

Do I need to lock these ladders down? I really thought it was going to refuse to lock them down, but it didn't.
