I know that a lot of times the communication in here is about our pet peeves, our perceptions of the injustice in the game.
My wife and I have been playing UO for along time now. We enjoy the game very much. What we enjoy most of all is the opportunity to interact with other people. Many of the people we interact with, we do so anonymously.
There is no better reveal er of our inner selves than how we treat other people over whom we have power, and they have no power to retaliate. This is pretty much the definition of "character" and also of internet interaction.
Anyone who has played this game for a long time has had friends come and go. We just got some pretty bad news about the future prospects of one of our friends who has been with many of us in the boards and in our Legends Shard community for quite awhile.
She has been a friend to many, across some guild rivalries, and transcended drama keeping people first. If we do lose her, more than just the game will suffer the loss, the world will lose "one of the good people".
Behind every character we meet in this game lives a person, someone of value - greater value than any "in game item", greater value than any "in world" possession.
I am very grateful to be a member of a game/shard where the community often throws anonymous heal/cures; players often share sought after items, baby pictures, real life victories, real life tragedies.
It has been my great honor and privilege to play and trade across the shards with many of you. I wish you all well.
For those so inclined, your prayers for our friend Lady Phoenix are greatly appreciated.
