Different Tactics for Sampires and Wammies?

I always assumed that sampires and wammies were different means to the same end and that they would be played in the same way; the only difference being that the wammy uses wraith form for mana, rather than mana leech (and so is cheaper to create and suit up).

I now understand, however, that this is not correct.

I know the difference in templates but can someone contrast the way in which they are played and their respective strengths and weaknesses?

Thanks

The tactics are slightly different because you have spirit speak with a whammie and you don't with a sammie.

Sammie - uses vampiric embrace for hit point regen.

Whammie - uses curse weapon and spirit speak for hit point regen.

sampire:
Needs extra fire resist
Needs a weapon with mana and stamina leech
Can ride a mount
Can hit harder than the Whammy

Whammy:
Can double/triple leech (mana from form plus curse weapon)
Can ALSO go into vamp form for using a mount (sometimes, some whammy templates have low necromancy)
Weapon only needs stamina leech and speed to be effective
No horses
Can summon a familiar (my favorite was adding two bake kitsune to the fight).

Neither of you mention the only defining characteristic of the Whammie - that they run in Wraith Form?

Also, when fighting some mobs, a wammy is gna run outta mana!!!

Thats a fact!!!

A wraith will only leech mana if the target has mana, when you leech it there mana is drained. Eventually the target runs out and you can no longer leech!
(this doesnt apply the same to mana leech on a weap...so depending on what your gna fight, you still need mana leech on the weap as well)

And to whoever said the suit was easier???

With a wammy...you need regs! Nuff said!
