The Whispering Rose Radio feed only kicked in at 30 minutes in or so. (No, this is not a criticism of WRR, I appreciate that technical problems happen.)

Did they say anything about Stygian Abyss during that time?

You mean beyond "we can't talk about that right now"?

Yes.

However, is that what they literally said?

I'm not interested in statements about how badly they suck or how they never say anything or about what a waste of time the Town Hall was.

I am interested in hearing what, if anything, they literally, actually said about SA.

Was that it?

That was pretty much it (at least in the broadcast part)... that they couldn't say anything about it.

And why in the world couldn't they say anything about it? Not like this is a closely guarded secret but more like we have no clue yet what to do about this. Good Grief if the rest of corporate America ran like this how sad would that be? Ineptness is just that. They need to quit having useless meetings and make a decision. It is kind of embarrassing to see the 9th anniversary logo every time I log in knowing that the 10 anniversary has come and gone.
They are emphasizing on current events to forestall any information release on a future expansion. Quit having town halls and put the money into developemnt of a new expansion.

If they are working on it, they don't want people getting over-hyped, demanding updates and crashing into despair at every delay.

If they're not working on it any more ... well, that would be taken as a bad sign.

If they're waiting for more KR adoption, it could create great community-destroying flamewars.

Any of those ways it adds up to not discussing it.

I think they need to continue to focus on fixing what we HAVE right now before considering another expansion to pile on to the problems.

We have umpteen hundred different systems with UO that need some sort of attention... the economy, PvM, PvP, dungeons, crafting, Factions, Champ Spawns, speedhacking, resource gathering, T-Maps, SOSs, FIshing, Gardening, Taming, Virtues...

We have issues in the 2d client that need to be addressed.

We have issues in the KR client that need to be addressed (ESPECIALLY if KR is going to be the main client for SA).

Had the town hall been a bit closer than it was, I would have gone (8 hours of driving was a bit too much for me), however I do agree that the QnA portion that was broadcast was not unlike an HoC chat.

I kind of understand the whole NDA aspect (I have a lot I can't say about my own job right now that would probably blow your mind), but I do believe that we need a LOT more transparency in a LOT of the topics being discussed.

As for SA... personally, for me it can wait. I want to see more general game improvement before we tack on another expansion.

The question remains why the heck haven't they done these when they were needed to? Some of these fixes are ages old. Yes they need to be fixed but why did or is it taking so long to get to them? I am suspecting we aren't getting the teams full attention. Maybe they are being diverted to another game inspite of what we are being told.

That shouldn't even be somthing we have to settle for. Bugs should be fixed on a constant basis. MMO's don't survive for years without new content or new expansions. Declining subs support my view. How many other MMO's go for 2+ years without major udpates?

Lack of a really focused team in one form or fashion.

And this isn't limited to the current team but goes as far back as 1998 if not further.

There has never been a time when they made a checklist beyond a certain range of things that needed attention.

You're right, but it's the position we find ourselves in.

Some of the issues aren't bugs per se as much as they are systems that were faultily crafted or not finished, systems that have failed to keep pace with gameplay changes, and so on.

I'm looking at things as they are now, not as they should or should not be... and right now, we're in a spot where the game needs a LOT of repolishing of existing systems and content.

To make a car restoration analogy, you have to get all the rusty spots sanded and buffed out before you can apply the new coat of paint, or the rust will continue to eat away at the body of the car.

Same applies here and as much as I enjoy UO, it has a LOT of rust that needs to be worked on.

I and more than a few others, still can NOT play KR with computers only 6 months old. A WHOLLLLLLEEEEEEEE lot of UO players simply can't run KR. The 10 or so Uhallers with Elite systems can hardly make up the difference.

I agree heartily with your feelings, and hope we can get the things that are in desperate need of attention, ticked off of a To Do list, and hopefully, get some new content along the way, as well.

Some items are getting needed attention, and that is a very good thing, but we do have quite a few right now that need to be looked at.

All are needed pretty badly.

Well said, anyway...

Be fair... comparing UO to other mmo's isn't fair... All other mmo's will always fall short in comparison.
