Did anyone else play Slownoma 1997-1999?

Seems I'm the only one left who even remembers the player city of Oasis in the desert, and "Fight Night" on Sonoma.

I was Judge Dredd/Nosfentor/Godslayer.

I played back then... I made a character on Sonoma the 1st day it was Created... I had a Vanq Heavy Xbow / Hiding Dread Archer back in the Day.....
I Remember Fighting BD (Black Dragons) Kain Hellbane / Jobe etc..... You had to be 7x Mage to even be allowed in that guild heh...

It was Jove not Jobe.

That was the era where PvP was at it's best. The introduction of special moves and high level magic gear ruined PvP.

If they ever do make a Classic Shard I hope the PvP system is based on this time frame as the skill from player to player was very transparent. I believe this was still UO:R.

Until then I choose not to engage in PvP as the system currently in place can't hold a candle to what once was.

I remember the names, may have met a few but I was still new to sonoma at the time. I coowned a small house in Havenhold (near the waterfall, up north of i think it was trinny?) Agvir Solaris and Aegis were 2 I knew on sonoma. I then tried to restart on atlantic since it was closer to my home at the time and less laggy for me. Gotta love them old dial up days. I havent seen or heard from any of the old sonoma people for years now.

My RL brother was Minauros the Mayor of Oasis and he had a large tower I think two screens from the Oasis Castle and at one time he was the owner of the castle. Now the castle is under the ownership of someone in the guild PAS I think.

Think I started around 1999 on Sonoma. Stayed on Sonoma. First character was a simple archer named Viper. Used the actual UO template for an archer too, lol.

I played Sonoma during that time and fondly remember Oasis, although I was never more than an occasional visitor until around the time Oasis was becoming a ghost town and Jonas had left. I remember Harlequin, Jonas, Merlin, Mephistopheles, Casey, Gewurztraminer and others. I think I remember Judge Dredd and Nosfenter. I'm pretty sure Nosfenter chased PK's away from my miner (Tuatha de Danann) a few times. I would have been known as Tuatha de Danann, En'Garook Bha'al, and Valas Illystin.

I might have chased away pk's for you, I was a member of the Oasis Guard.

It's been a really, really long time since I've gone by this nickname.

Judge Dredd, I remember you =) **** that was a long time ago. Strolling around as a Dreadlord despite being Captain of the Oasis guard. I didn't ever consider myself a true PK as I never picked fights. I just liked hanging out in the dungeons, perfectly quote-unquote killable sans rep hit. What I always loved most was res'ing a guy after killing him and giving him all his stuff back, and then telling him not to blindly attack anyone with a Red name again.

That approach to UO bad-assism was always met with mixed responses =)

Man that game was so much fun, and I'm happy that people other than me still reminisce at times.

Destard was my home. We had the house at Destard Entrance, and Destard Villiage plus were associated with other guilds around Scara. I learned to fight with the best, but couldn't get involved, except as a spectator in the player city of Oasis in the desert, and "Fight Night" on Sonoma, due to, as your post suggests, Slownoma. SLOW? How about not being able to stay connected long enough to do anything. Good thing the dragons were friendly during those years.
I did know many players from the fight nights, most of whom have left UO years ago.. to return and leave again.
