I've had the same thoughts, I want to keep a few books locked down with info in them, but also need to add to it.

okay - silly thought. if you have a locked book, can't you copy it via inscription to a new one, add to it and lock that one?

the alteration of the red leaf stuff would most likely be more painful than doing the above IMO.

then again ... I elected to be the Devils Advocate on this one. <shrug>

Yeah, it should work. I used to do that with my visitor books - scribe a backup book and leave the main one editable.

Don't get me wrong ... your idea has merit. I simply took this one to be the target of "lobbed grenades". Keep pushing the idea, but at least there is a work-around you can use.
