Devs: Turn the Event back on... I couldn't even enjoy it!

Please turn the Skele liches, sicarri and everything back on.

I didn't even get a chance to do this because of RL and the lag issue. I set aside time IRL to do this... and then couldn't even play UO at all.


So please... turn it back on and keep it on until after the lag issue is cleared up...

I never will understand why people who don’t want to participate in something think that EVERYONE should not be able to participate in it. What could it possibly hurt you to have it left on a little while longer considering some people were unable to participate because of circumstances beyond their control?

It's because they perceive the value (gold or otherwise) and rarity of items they got and others didn't would be deminished if EA allows others more of a chance to participate. Basically, it's greed... "I got mine... if you didn't get yours, tough, you can buy at inflated prices or just not have it"

Some greedy people may be this way. Extending it a week I understand. Here is why I have a big hesitation on extending events these days. Look at last year’s Halloween content. The content was not turned off until March of 08!!! (how many people do you see picking pumpkins this Halloween due to the fact they could for 6 months last year). What makes an event is the time frame in which we are allowed to participate. If it goes on too long than the event (and items, but that’s not the issue) looses it’s value. The game feels choppy and as though the devs are not maintaining it if one day in march they realize, “oh yeah, we need to turn off the Halloween stuff”. I agree a week extension is warranted in this situation. But you only have to look back one year to see where there was a big mishap.

You are right, of course, and that mentality just sickens me. EVERYONE should be able to participate and if they inability to participate extends to circumstances beyond their control then extra time should be given. It's really that simple.

Now, if they'd only turn back on Trick or treating.

It was shut off WELL before Midnight Sunday (heck, it was about the time the sun set in the western US), when Sicari & the liches continued for two more days before its temporary turn-off, and then got turned back on today.

I worked most of the night Saturday, and all day Sunday, getting from 97 begging to GM (after taking close to 20 hours game play just to go from 96 to 97), only to have trick or treating shut off around the time I hit 99.8, and at the time, the only place it was Monday was in the Eastern Hemisphere (and I play a west coast US shard).

And, while you're at it, turn the Treasures of Tokuno back on, because when that happened I wasn't able to play UO.

I wasn't there for the Magencia invasion either, but it's because my family needed me and I CHOSE to make that a priority. However, you haven't heard me ask to have it extended or turned back on have you? Why? Because I CHOSE not to participate. It wasn't that I WANTED to participate and circumstances BEYOND my control PREVENTED me from participating. Do you get the differences here yet? Probably not, people like you never do.

Such a pathetic excuse. You had 30 days to do this event, don't come up with some lame excuse to blame UO's "lag" for your inability to participate personally. There are many things that keep people from playing a game whether it be real life or "lag" but you don't see thousands of people making these posts for one reason. They are not spoiled life is never fair and you simply have to deal with it instead of crying for a bottle.

Keep in mind this was a HALLOWEEN event that has lasted till nearly THANKSGIVING. I think it's fair enough to say you had PLENTY of time to do it even with 900 latency for 30 days which I doubt anyone would have 30 days of nonstop "unplayable lag".

It's people like you who have made UO dumbed down and catering the simple lazy folk making this game not even a challenge or fun to play anymore compared to when it was still new and had RISK. Now anyone can solo anything simply because they whine about things nonstop and want more overpowered this and that because they're too inept to adapt.

Xel, I was quite happy when you returned to UO recently as I always like to see returning veterans to the game. You have a great reputation and are certainly one of the "elite" of the shard.

However... I have listened to players complain ever since AOS came out about how unbalanced things became with an item based game. A player willing to spend a little time training and a lot of rl$ could compete almost immediately - while other players could never compete because they did not want to invest rl$ in a game. Ever since AOS, players have complained about the item based nature of the game and longed for "the good old days".

Well... here they are! Items are cheaper, more available, and no longer elite. As everyone obtains the items and trains up skills, we get back to the roots of UO. Player skill rather than in game skills or items will determine winners and losers. The players skill at combining macros and skill templates will have a chance against someone willing to lay out several hundred dollars on a new suit (or a single item).

I know you are one of the "elite" players in part (maybe solely?) because of the wealth of items you have. Are you good enough to complete without that advantage? Or are you throwing in the towel because it is becoming a level playing field?

It is hard to truly balance things between those who have and those who have-not. And EA-Mythic certainly can not please everyone. I am just glad to see the game still evolving or it would die in stagnation.

I fail to see how people asking to have an event extended because of events BEYOND their control has (1) dumbed down UO and (2) made things overpowered. Maybe you need to step back and see how ridiculous your comments were.

If you don't wish to participate, then DON'T. But don't blame everything YOU deem wrong with UO on the people who asked to have an event extended because they were unable to participate because of circumstance they could NOT control. Sheesh!

Then let me be the first to suggest that if you have quit UO "yet again", maybe it's time for you to quit the boards too? Having people whine on the boards about a game they DON'T even play anymore makes no sense except that they need something to whine about and/or they have the need to draw attention to themselves.

As one of those who DOES still play UO and has for 11+ years, I prefer to read comments from people who are experiencing the game firsthand instead of those who have given up but continue to bad mouth it. Just my 2¢.

wow, dude, you need to keep things in perspective...its just an event that may last an extra week or so....that's it.

some people really could not play because of the lag...the devs might be giving them some extra time to participate. Some people simply dont have a lot of time to play, and for those players the time they had set aside for uo was adversly affected by lag.

Maybe you do need to quit UO...it seems to cause some anger issues with you

What I find funny about this statement is that Black Rain plays Siege. I think he knows something about risk! rolleyes: His request has nothing to do with getting items, it's about being able to participate in an event.
