Ok so not only can't you make a glass sword with altering any blacksmithing item,when you alter a bitchers knife a sword weapon it turns into a gargish dagger a fencning weapon. If you find a nice left facing cleaver it will turn into a glass sword with tinker a right facing one will not.
So the whole alter thing needs a relook make sure smithing can make a glass sword is the only weapon thye can't make and fix the cleaver facing issue plus skinner should be glass sword not dagger.
