Devine Fury suit for Sampire: Worth it?

Hey all,

It's been about a year since I've played, and I want to build a Sampire suit but I want to clarify some issues before I dump any more gold into one.

My main question is if I can fit 65 DCI on my suit so I can freely cast Devine Fury, can I get away with no Stam Leech on my wep?

My rationale is that the damage increase, SSI, and HCI bonuses from Devine plus full stam regen upon casting would give me a lot of flexibility in the rest of my suit.

But to get to 65DCI, I have to put 15 on my wep instead of another property. Also, to make this suit, I would need to trade out my trinket for Slither, and if Devine isn't worth it, I'd prefer to spend that chunk of change elsewhere.

Cheers!

Imho not the best idea to go without stam leech on weapon. If its a one hander and you want to carry a ton of refresh pots all the time, it may be ok.
That 15 mana to keep divine fury running is better spent on something else, and there are also things like the cast recovery time and the additional key to press that may mess up your rythm of things.
The other issue with divine fury is that it behaves a bit different then eoo, consecrate or curse weapon. You cannot refresh it before the timer runs out.

Thanks for the quick response! I'll save myself the trouble of fitting the extra DCI in and gold for Slither.

It's a great strategy when you have the character geared correctly. You will need fc/fcr though. I get 65 dci from fey legs, slither, 15 ring and brac, and conjurer's garb. None is needed on the wep. I put FC on my weps and run 3/5 or 3/6 casting. This also helps out with casting everything else obviously, most importantly curing lvl6 poison, emergency heals, and remove curse.

A big benefit of the divine fury spam is 10ssi. You'll have to keep it up all the time, but using a 5ssi ring, 5ssi cloak, and divine fury, you can use most weapons at max swing speed without having ssi on them. I have 170 stamina and use this, and my main weapon of choice is a bladed staff with hml, hld, hla, fc, and di. As long as you stay above 150 stamina, all 3s and faster weapons swing at max.

I think divine is a better choice for killing bosses than stamina leech is, since you have complete control of your character instead of hoping for a leech. 1-2 swings at 2sec or slower could mean a quick death.

For a reference, the suit I use with this character, excluding weapon, has these stats:
2/5 casting
10 ssi (20 in divine)
35 hci (45 in divine)
65 dci (45 in divine)
40 lmc
10 mr
25 hp
45 stam
45 mana
45 di (55 in divine)
max resists in vamp

With the weapons I use it takes me to 3/5 and 100 di.

Obviously very expensive to create, but if your have the resources available to achieve this it makes for an incredible boss killing machine.

On a side note, I still put stamina leech on my whirlwind weps since you get hit so much more often when fighting large groups.

Hope this helps.

For PvM

I think not need DCI 65.
I cast devine fury and DCI is on purpose lowered and counter attack is made easy to cause.
Its good attack.

Deception,

Thanks for the info.

What are you using as a helm? Totem? I'm assuming you're not using M&S because of the DCI on the wep.

Well that is another strategy, but it has holes. To maximize the counter attack stance, you would want 120 parry and 0 dci. Obviously this build would be made to increase the offensive firepower of this character. The big flaw with this, though, is that when you have 120 parry you cannot max tactics and anatomy. Thus, you trade damage for more hits, which ends up being pretty similar in total damage output.

The two temps for damage output samps are:

Big Hits (lower parry, 45 dci)
120 swords
120 bushido
120 tactics
120 anatomy
99 necro
65 chiv (but for divine fury spam you'll want 75)
76 parry

Counter Attack (high parry, 0 dci)
120 swords
120 bushido
120 tactics
120 parry
99 necro
65 chiv
76 anatomy

Here are the differences:

Big Hits:
49.7 pre-buff DPS (1.4% less overall damage done)
25% chance of getting hit (17% less damage taken)

Max Counter Attack:
50.4 pre-buff DPS (1.4% more overall damage done)
30% chance of getting hit (17% more damage taken)

**Assumptions in these calculations:
Enemy has 120 weapon skill
Enemy swing at maximum swing speed
Your character has 100 strength
Your character has 100% damage increase
Your character is using a bladed staff
Your character has counter attack up at all times

Equations
Chance to get hit = (Chance attack lands) * (1 - Parry chance)
ex) .34 * (1-.27) = .25
Chance to counter = (Chance attack lands) * (Parry chance)
ex) .34 * .27 = .09
DPS = (damage per swing / swing delay) + (chance to counter * damage per swing / enemy swing delay)
ex) (57 / 1.25) + (0.09 * 57 / 1.25) = 49.7

Things to note:
1- Most likely your enemy isn't going to be attacking at a 1.25s rate the entire fight. The less attacks from your enemy, the less effective the damage output of counter attack. When you reduce the enemies swing speed in these calculations, it actually yields a greater damage output to use the "big hits" template.
2- DCI is constant and without cost, while counter attack must be cast and costs mana. The equations assume that counter attack is constant, but in reality it's benefits are reduced.

In my opinion, the high DCI build is far superior to the high parry build when using counter attack. (And obviously when not using it)

.....Just realized that this post doesn't answer the original topic, but I feel that there is useful information here. I posted earlier reasons as to why divine fury is superior to stamina leech in fighting bosses, but if anyone wants more insight into that I'd be happy to help.
