Thanks for the valentines gifts, very cute plushies. Biggest gift for me though is destard being once again filled with nasty dwaggies, now just to boost up the other lovely legacy dungeons. =)

Not sure if I should start a new thread for this but shouldn't the new greater dragons (as their corpses call them) yield barbed hides and scales when skinned rather than 30 normal hides? I'd like to know if this is intentional and if so what the reasoning is.

Super dragons appear to spawn staticly meaning a spawn point that is spawning a greater dragon will always spawn a greater dragon. I haven't done a cold blood spawn since the patch, but the dragons at cb are presumeably still normal dragons.

Sounds like a good time... I spawn but IMO spawns are alot easier then they used to be (and then they should be).

I'd like to know what the min requirements for taming and controling one of these are. I've had a friend tame it with it discorded at 120/120 and he failed alot. I've read of someone taming one at 110/110. I think reg drags are like 90ish req... how much of a bump do these babies require?

I killed a handful of them with 2k+ luck and didn't see any difference in quality.

Personally I would much rather they made the monsters smarter instead of stronger. Killing a dragon that's twice as strong as an old dragon isn't the slightest bit more fun for me, and thus the change only impacts me in a negative way. If they had made the dragons smarter though (that is, improve their ai) then that would be something.

I want monsters that poison you when you're about to heal, monsters that know to chain spells like FS and Expo or corpse skin and fireball. I want monsters that will run away if you're going to win, not walk around abscently. I want ranged monsters that try and keep their distance from you, not walk right up to you. I want monsters that lure you back to their friends, or that surround you in a passage.

Increasing how much damage monsters do is not only the wrong way to fix things, it's the lazy way.

They are really only bringing back Dragons to their former selfs in a sense, and they do like to bleed attack now along with loving to hop around trying to out do the purple bunnies perhaps?

The highest HP ive seen so far on a Dwaggy Lady Vix is 2200, unfortunatly we had no time to tame this afternoon. =(

Two ways to tame em, either honor tame, or do it in gangs with 1 person taming, everyone else invis/heal/curing the crazy sap, hehehe. I'm sure an eval mage/tamer could beat one down well enough that it wouldn't be instant death when it does the teleport breath/bite combo.

Theres no way I could have tamed these beasties by myself. My girlfriend had a cu which we both healed whilst it took the dragon down to near death, and then I tamed whilst she repeatedly healed and invis'd me. Im on 115 taming / 100 lore and it took me about 10 attempts before i succeeded the tame. Only problem is that I averaged 2 deaths of my own per taming attempt!

UOPod is right ... stuff like the hide booboo should have appeared in programmer or internal QA testing. And as many players profess TC usage, certainly there! Which tells me that :
a) Player testing is not looking at all facets of gameplay with releases
b) player testing is not reporting errors like this
c) if reported the product is out the door before fixes are in

And you do not need to be a programmer to realize what SQA (Software Quality Assurance) testing and specs are all about. Some of the best QA folks I know are not a programmer or even able to read code. But they know what the product shyould and should not do.

I'm a programmer that can write specs, lead testing, test, and darn near anything else in IT - except survive Management politics. Been there, done that, got the shirt.

LA/Tram Destard ... I rezzed one fellow and keep another healed. Here comes a dragon and literally in 1 hit I was dead. 108 HP, 55 mana, 122 Stamina, all-70s. Never got a hit in on the bugger. One of the 3 others there just went "Holy s***!" then promptly got wasted as well. Dragon was about 1/3 red.

Fine, got rezzed, 4 tries to get to my corpse for what wasn't insured. No sweat. Same dragon decides to shift target and lands (teleport) on me with everything it had. 2 HP left and poisoned ... no chance for Cleanse by Fire. Yup - corpsicle again. &lt;sigh&gt; Barely made the entrance.

Man, these puppies need a team to tackle ... mixed bag of weaponry I think. I'm going back for more - I need about 20 more death robes to deco the floor in my house. Should be easy as long as I have gold in the bank!

I just wonder if they aren't a tad too hard to kill/hit - before they eat you up. &lt;shrug&gt;

I can beat down/tame solo, so I'm not sure.

For a melee char, I'm really not sure, but with their skills, I suspect they might very well eat even a well suited dexer who's not carefull.

I spent a good hour in Destard on Great Lakes tonight almost constantly area peacing, healing and rezzing. It was an absolute thrill to see so many people there, most of them working together. It was pure chaos, but I don't think I've ever had so much fun in that dungeon. I couldn't keep up with dragging out the life bars, there were that many people in there. I hope even after the novelty of the new dragons wears off, people will continue to go there.

I saw Rachel of CFC on GL tame quite a few of the new dragons in the time I was there, so hopefully she'll be kind enough to post a few tips on the tamer's forum. From where I was standing, it appeared that beating them up had mixed results. Lots of teleporting. Plus I know I felt guilty area peacing to try to help keep everyone alive when a few people were spending their mana on casting EVs. Wasn't sure how much the area peacing was hindering the EVs.

Going in with a small support team to area peace and keep the tamer alive / rezzed seems like the most efficient way to do it. One bard working with a tamer that has chiv and healing and a ton of persistence also worked.

They do spawn as paragons and as far as I know on catskills at least, we took down the first Paragon Greater Dragon earlier this morning. Didnt think to lore it till it had wiped us out a few times. At this point he had already discorded it and it was at over 8500 pts. Nasty stuff

I don't understand why that kinda nonsense is supposed to be fun. It's no fun in PVP when there's a 1 hit kill of some kind...why is it supposed to be acceptable in PVM for someone with a 70s suit to die in one hit?

Changes like this make me question hanging around.

Sure...make dragons nastier...but not by just boosting their stats out the roof and making them teleport to you. Actually invest some time in some real AI for a change.

I have 120 taming lore music and peace and using a reptile slayer insterment was able to peace and tame one rather simply if its any help. i think discord would help alot to in the taming process.

I was careful ... but when one teles onto you and delivers everything in the arsenal atonce yo have no chance. I was using the run, hit, run tactics whenever I could.

I'd hunt Destard and with hit/run tactics could manage 2 dragons with healing constantly. One of these puppies makes Destard not worth the effort any more. The 14K of hides I have will just have to last. I will not go back there ... and I'm reasonably experienced.

Jeremy - I hope you are reading what some folks think of these. They are way overpowered at present when they can kill a decently experienced dragon battler in one hit. I saw even more experienced ones dropping last night.

There was a time, pre-AOS, that melee warriors had no viable chance to fight in PVM. It was simply impossible. That's just not fair, and since AOS things have gone a long way to allowing a warrior to really be a warrior.

There is no excuse for anything existing in the game that can do 100+ damage to a 70 resist instantly. None. That gives you no chance to have any kind of defensive tactic to deal with it, no matter how many friends you have along to help heal you.

The regular dragons concern me less than the paragons. Between the loss of the bag of sending and now the super dragon paragons...I get the feeling they don't like or don't care about Ilshenar at all.

What we need is better AI...not one hit wonders.

I just cant see why people are dieing in one hit by these new dragons unless they arent at full health to begin with, I just think people have got lazy with how easy Destard had become.
Its good to see the carnage however of pre-aos happening, although its still easy to take one of those bad boys down with a bit of running.

Oh, for taming these new fella's a team of three works very well, two healers and a tamer for your new pet. =)

Pre-AOS monsters sucked, okay? Melee fighters couldn't do a single solitary thing except go kill elementals. Maybe daemons, but it took all day.

uh yes me and tor anne killed a paragon super drag. over 8500 hits, yes paragon in every way. not particularly easy, we did it without dying.

okay i apparently confused tor anne with queen mum's daughter whose name i can never recall and lessa was there doing some good work as well. i was definitely there, i was tanking it. so i just remember me cause you gotta actually pay attention with those.... lol.

check out my post on other thread on how to tame them. get a good dexxer (well i am pretty well renowned but there are others as well) to beat it down, a good place is the crate room in destard where its flat, then have a legendary tamer friend there (away from it at first) and have her/him come in after its beat down and target bandie on them and hold it down and follow them closely. We did it like 12 times now, about 3 minutes each time. there are other ways but that's ours.

Draconi would tell you, they did change the AI on them. Now if you can't kill them alone think of it as a challenge because it can be done. With some practice, and a lot of attention, it becomes very fun and actually not THAT hard. They do have a better AI they are more fun and they ARE beatable. now i didn't mean to offend you, but it is simply the truth.

For peace paly's (Legendary peace / Legendary music)

If the dragon does not peace on the first try, ignore it...find one that peaces. EEO and hit the dragon. Now all regular dragons are Orange to you. Easy to spot them.

Pick the Orange (regular) ones out of the crowd and kill / loot.

End result. Same amount of hides / gold as are normal per time span. (Less people in Destard competing for the dragons)

But if peeps are willing to pay double for hides now.....you can sell them for more

So far I have never been one hit killed, and I have been tele - triple hit many times.
