Despite Low Ping Times, Lag Not Fixed

I hate to say it, but the game is not what it was prior to the lag problems.

Ping times seem to be fine now, but there's still something wrong.

It not related to houses or vendors because it is also happening in Dungeons.

Stutter-stepping all over the place = unplayable.

My ping times are not what they were prior, and lag is def. still there.

The event was fun, but the lag is beyond crap.

ps. KR is what I was playing and I hope SA is a lot better than the torture I endured playing KR.

It is still a bit laggy, but it's at least playable and infinitely better than it was a few days ago.

I disagree, it is not playable. It needs to go back to the way it was before. The stuttering is completely unacceptable.

I think they know this and I'm sure they are working on it.

One of two things is happening here. Either he’s not drinking beer today, or all his negative posts being moved made him realize it’s better to be more constructive.

Just logged in, recalled to dungeon, ran around... Still stuttering and lagged.... exited dungeon, recalled back to house, logged out.

Still unplayable.

Ping still good, no packet loss.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I ping 11-12 on GL but I feel like I'm on a 56k. I'm actually worse than last week.

I am running Ultima Online Trace Utility - trace route poll. And man is it stuttering, stopping for seconds at a time.

This Vancouver to Baja.

Looks like it's gonna be a bad night!

I don't know about the rest of you, but when this finally starts working I plan on calling the billing department and demanding gametime credit.

This is totally unacceptable. The game is unplayable and the Dev team is slow to react.

I am looking at 2 weeks of wasted gametime. That's almost 7 dollars that EA owes me. I find it ironic they seem to be nonchalant about blatant larceny.

Umm...... I'm not noticing ANY lag.. matter of fact the PvP guild of 23 some odd people I'm in haven't been noticing any lag either.. perhaps the LAG question isn't as bad as your making it sound. Yea YEa yea... some people have posted on UOHALL... I bet alot of others that aren't experiencing the lag didn't post though.... Anyway... we know we know.. your lagging.... IF the Dev's do ANY reading They know your lagging... do you have to bump your own threads repeatedly to continue to beat the dead horse ?

My pings were horrendous last week but since EA re-rerouted around that first laggy hop in the tracert (the new route goes through sprint instead), my lag has vanished. I'm playing on Atlantic from Chicago.

but for me, drinkbeer, it's not unplayable, just annoying

The game was unplayable for me until the 'fix'. Was it not geographical? Possible there are still areas experiencing problems, maybe EA could assign one DEV to this particular issue to concentrate on the location of the problem?

My thought is, if even those that are not having lag issues help those that still are, EA will continue to look at the situation and not think the problem is solved.

i don't see why it is "negative" to demand the advertised product works or to ask for a refund if it's not working.

when it's fixed, i will tally up my wasted gametime and give them a call. i know i won't get a refund but who knows maybe i will get some credit on my account? it's worth a shot.

edit: just checked, still stutter-stepping. i assume we won't be hearing anything about this until at least Monday afternoon.

i notice there is nothing in the FoF. (not surprised at all at that)

who are "those guys"? i don't get it.

i'm not "just yelling"

i paid for a product/service. i'm not receiving it. i've decided i'll ask for game time credit. the customer service reps have the power to do it. it would be stupid not to state my case and try to be reimbursed. does that offend you or something? why are you lashing out?

UO is providing their service to you.
Your ISP was sending you thru some poor hops on the way to UO's address.

nice try, but you have several facts wrong.

#1 the high pings and packet loss were not my ISP's fault.

#2 even if it was, the high pings and packet loss are gone

#3 i'm experiencing choppy gameplay. IE: as far as i'm concerned, the product/service is broken.

#4 it's not tilting at windmills to ask for game time if you've done it before and received it.

daaaang :p

Simmer down everyone....please?

If some of you are having issues, fine. :)

If some of you want feel compensation is in order, fine. :)

Make the statement, respect the fact that we all a right to make a statement...that's been done.

Let's see if we can present this to the dev's like people of some intelligence and maybe we will get somewhere.

Please just let this go before it gets locked - locks suck.

Let's look at the post and not the poster. A player is still unable to play the game, a game which this poster WANTS to pay to play. This concerns all of us, how long will any of us have this particular game when players are going elsewhere?

We need to support those that are still having lag issues. And....its a good thing those that are having issues are speaking out for assistance instead of closing their account.

- sounds good to me ;)
Just thought ya' might want to file some complaints with your ISP since according to uo.com it was a telecom company's network that was causing some of the recent lag issues. I don't think EA chooses how you connect to EA but I do think the ISP that you pay for carries that burden.

I'm not sure why I even care, but, again:

It is not my ISP.

Also: EA chooses how it connects to internet backbones and so does my ISP. It's a 2 way street.

I have had problems with my ISP in the past and I've called them several times and each time it's been resolved.

now if I was one of "those people" who yell at insurance company CS reps I would be using a broken internet connection caused by old wiring right now.

Not quite true for the lag we are experiencing now. Our pings are normal, but the lag is still present. It's not as bad as it was before, but there is still something wrong and I do believe it is on EA's end... perhaps server related.

yeah I haven't bothered reinstalling UO because another poster said it didn't make a difference. If the Dev's suggest I reinstall UO I'll do it.

My apologies for being ambiguous. I meant to state that since my ping times and packet loss have improved, I am no longer experiencing the stutter-stepping and lag, connecting from Chicago to Atlantic. These threads generally collect many replies with various peoples' experiences from across the world, and as such I figured I'd report that everything seems fine from Chicago (should a dev happen to read this and attempt to piece together the scenario that is causing your lag).

I've noticed a little of this stuttering myself.

I wasn't really affected by the really severe lag that has been reported lately, but I do notice some hang-ups, stutters, and random lag 'pockets' still occuring. Certainly hasn't been game-stopping for me thankfully, just annoying.

I am playing Chesapeake shard, connecting from the south central US. Cox Cable is my provider.

What's the story Joanne? When will I be able to play UO again?

Latency Issues
Joanne Laroche
18 Nov 2008 17:07:36
For those of you who are experiencing latency issues we wanted to let you know that we've identified an issue with an individual telecom company whose network is affecting performance of players whose service is routed through their network at any point, particularly on the East Coast. We're sorry for the inconvenience everyone and thank you for your patience as our team continues to work with this provider to resolve the issue.
((14.03 * 12) / 365) * 16 (days that i haven't been able to play) = $7.38

Last time I logged there was no lag anymore.. instead I had gotten choppy performance. I kept freezing every couple of steps.
Guess it's not fixed then. :hahaha:
