Designing "secure" public house

The Home center sent me here to find out how to design public houses in Fel.

Long story short, I want to setup a Fel vendor house on a production shard.

I know all the precautions about public Fel houses: detect hidden, etc.

My concern is combat security. Aka not getting killed in my house as well as "easy" house retreat.

With that said, does anyone have a picture of a reasonable house design that is safe for running vendors?

just dont put in any doors, put teleport pads on the front steps and make them only accessible to friends. put your vendors on a patio on the second floor.

Really... any house is as secure as the next. The 'security' of the home... falls on the owner.

Some designs are safer than others in that they let you move around with-in the home, but that's about it.

Having teleporters and doors to rooms/diff levels is what I mean.

My houses have been public for years and years and years... never really had any problems. I've had a handful of attempts to kill my character, none successful. It's really just about knowing what you're supposed to do and not panic'n when its time to do it.

I typically have a teleporter located close to the entrance of the plot, that is set to friends or higher access, that 'ports to an otherwise inaccessible area of the house. I've had even very tiny houses with vendors that were reasonably secure this way.

Here is one of the smaller vendor houses I designed. I successfully took refuge from PKs in the tiny thatched shed up top, via a teleporter under the mat.

The house was just a holiday novelty one so it was very basic, and only up for a few weeks. I wasn't too concerned about security while stocking, but if I were, I would have made half doors that I could set to owner only while doing so, as in this design:

The roof was also designed to be able to place vendors around, with teleporter access that could be restricted.

This house I used for a community center had greater need for security. I used the vestibule area for security. I'd let someone in the outer doors, and close them behind, then I'd take the teleporter on the porch inside, run detect hidden, then open the interior doors. (The doors were left anyone access unless I was decorating or stocking).

As mentioned, there are lots of ways to make your house secure. I don't think anyone ever successfully killed me in any of my houses, and there were more than a few attempts. :D

You basically want to account for physical proximity of thieves and PKers when you are stocking the vendors, and the annoyance of field/area/range spells that might reach you even if you are out of melee range. Since your customers can reach vendors via the house sign and double clicking name plates or the actual vendor, their ability to directly reach the vendor is less important than the vendor owners.

Did they fix the bug (or was it a feature??) where you could cast summons in houses through windows and some types of wall tiles?

It's so much easier to run a safe vendor house now with the customize houses.
In the first years of Siege, where the shard was very busy, I had a classic villa with vendors on the veranda. I was always standing out there crafting stuff for my vendors. I had valuable stuff in a bag so I fast could drop it in a secure if I got attacked.
I did hide most of the time but the noice from crafting would tell I was there.
I had no teleporters and the frontdoor could not be locked.
It vas very few times I got killed on my veranda. Most reds would just say hi and maybe ask me to make something for them. Many reds respect vendor owners who try to fill their needs.
One time a gank did drop me and then rez me with a smile without looting. An other time a blue killed me when I went grey from ressing a nieghbour, this red guild hunted him to he gave me an apology.

Yes, I haven't been killed in my shop since they fixed nature's furies coming inside. Though I believe Cheapsuit said there was a way to get inside my shop. I don't know how he did it.

The flaw in my design has been identified and rectified. My sincere thanks to the investigator.

A set of house teleporters from your main house (Trammy house if on normal shards) will make it alot more secure than recall/gate in with valuable stuff.
