Deco Suggestions

Ok guys and gals, but out the thinkin caps, cause mine done broke.

Below are the pictures of my house. Credit to design goes to Darkoth of Napa Valley #100 Design Contest Entry

Outside/Roof

1st Floor

2nd Floor

3rd Floor
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e332/gstark1/3rdfloor.jpg

The inside is rather barren in spots. First floor needs a lot of ideas.
I think the big empty southern room 2dnd floor is gonna be a dining area.
Third floor needs deco ideas for the hall and the mage area.
Roof is gonna be a gardening area, but those two south pointing areas are barren.

I've looked through the stickies and got a few ideas...like the preservation tank. Past that...help?

Characters using the house include an Archer, Mage/Bard, Lumberjack/Carp/Tinkerer, and a melee guy. If ideas can be focused around "areas" for each of these fellas (so I can remember where their crap is!) that would be GREAT.

That house is RICH in detail! wow, you're going to have fun filling it in :danceb:
The only thing i can think of to help would be to put your 'friends' section on bottom, and put your crafters stuff higher. you don't want visitors to be hit with your forge on stepping in the door - or maybe you do heh.
but me, i'd put all the crafter stuff up higher.
you picked a beautiful place to do - can't wait to see how it finishes!

Thanks Feath...I do look forward to decorating it. The only people with access to the house besides me are my wife and maybe a few guild members. I might change around the doors on the first floor, but overall i think I'm gonna keep the crafty stuff in the "basement"...notice how the front door is four tiles back...like some stairs could go right there? yeah that was the original idea, but it screwed with the rich exterior details. Hoping that when I GM fishing I can pull up some pictures to put up.

Oh here we go...I know I definatly want a fishing room...I LOVE fishing. Any ideas how I can take some section of the house and turn it into a fishing sanctuary?

I think the stairs could still go where you pointed out, though, they would have to be one more tile back so the wall above if could still be solid. That would, of course cut into that fireplace room, but that could be a good divider splitting that room up into a sitting area by the fireplace and maybe a library/scribe/map area on the opposite side.

About a fishing area, there are a good many items to help decorate with. Big fish, MIB and their loot, Runic crafted fishing rods... you could build a hugh aquarium or small pond. The aquarium could be like 3x5 or so, but instead of topping it off with black cloth, the top could be bordered by black/quarter/gnarled staves to give it a topless/greater viewable area look. Then, of course adding all the stuff that could be fished up to fill it in, including origami fish and stuff.

Good luck!

I was considering buying an aquarium once i get the money for it...i heard somewhere deco items sometimes spawn in it. I think I might try out the stairs; see how it looks. of course that kinda kills the foyer look i got going on downstairs. Oh, decisions!

i was saving my tank room to post later, but maybe it'll give you an idea on something for your house.

That tank is AMAZING feath! What did you use for the water? Crystal what? Wow.

crystal table - not my idea, actually. someone posted a screen from a japanese shard, where they used the crystal rocket shaped one as a tank. i didn't like the rocket shape, but the crystal idea was awesome!
i don't want to hyjack the thread, so i'll make a new one for my fish tank.

I would definately use the wall nets as feath has. They really help complete a fishing look, IMO. I was going to do a fish market type of shop with lots of nets and raw fish, but ended up using that extra house as a greenhouse. Oh how I love fishing/tavern type designs. Can't wait to see how you finish it. :)

Where can I get the wall nets? I've converted the second floor into a small sit down area...still working on it though.

the large net, you can walk through/under, the small net you cant. As devil said, they come from heritage tokens.

Hehe, guess i better fish up a cool half mil before getting nets!

Here's my attempt at making a nice little dining / drinking area...

Hi Caelas, nice looking home you got there.

I like the idea of a bar area on the ground floor... very welcoming.

I think you might put a bar running from the fireplace along the far wall to the doors. Then you can serve your guests food and drink :D

The bar in the picture is easy to make from benches and, as you are a fisherperson, you will probably fish up loads of cushions and stools for free!!

Ok, update time...I've been having fun decorating and redesigning, and here's what I've come up with...top two floors didn't change much if at all, but the bottom two...

New 1st Floor

New 2nd Floor

I'm thinking about maybe making the house available to people on Legends for events, meeting, etc...has anyone ever done that with any success? IF I do, I might make that somewhat blank area on the first floor East side into a stable area.

Looks pretty good! Needs some plants tho, I think. That really helps with larger spaces. And don't just put campions on the floor either, get some half barrels to put the plants on top of, or cauldrons might make a nice base...water troughs work as well.

BTW my memory might be faulty, I haven't had an aquarium since they came out with them (turns out I dont' have an aquatic thumb), but I seem to remember that one of the types of fish you can buy from fisher NPCs has a nice horizontal "split" where its like the fish are in two small groups, so if you raise them just right you can get it to look like there are fish on top of the aquarium and also on the side.

One thing that I saw that was nice with aquariums was that someone used the brocade gozas in two columns, alternating east and south so that the ridges fell different and used that as a base for the aquarium. It looks really nice.

You might also consider doing something different with all your chests. There are tons of different container options on the carpentry menu to choose from, and lots of ways to make hidden storage even if you decide you want to use that area for something else.

Thanks for the ideas Sarsmi. I will look at the plant suggestion...the roof is a bit of a garden, I'm sure I can grow something :)

The chests...eek. I have them labeled for what they hold...was considering moving the south ones more north and making a storage room off the stairs, but that would mess up the symetry I kinda got going on in there. Plus, all those red chects i found on the ground in some town...hehe freebies!

If they're wood they can at least be re-dyed... I'd do that so they don't attract as much attention, and so you can fit them in with whatever theme you decide on for that corner.

Caelas, showin' off my fishhouse room to give ya another idea about the chests... I parked them under a chopped table (someday I may actually finish this house :D )

Been sitting here staring at the cut up tables...how do you do that, and can you do it with wooden tables?
