Deco only?

Yesterday I acquired a soulforge from a player vendor, hoping I could use it in a narrower house I own, which has not much space to put up the huge soulforge.
To my surprise it seems not to be accepted as a soulforge by the imbuing menu? Why not (which would also a question to the developer team)?
I remember I did read something about smaller soulforges in the past, which was the reason for purchasing this - isn't this smaller thing functional or is there another yet available?

There are two types of small soulforge. One is merely decorative, called a 'mini soulforge' and looks like this:

The working one looks like this

The soulforge fro mthe Primal Lich Spawn is deco only. Only the one from Scalis can be used (And comes in a deed)

The one that works is weird as heck. I place the forge, you can lock it down. I don't think you need to lock it down but since I can I do. But after awhile it is no longer locked down. It randomly turns back into a deed after placed. I head up to the roof and the forge is gone and the deed is sitting there on the ground. The thing makes me nervous lol.

And why would there be 2 small forges like that? I mean does anyone really want a deco small forge? Well I'm sure some people do, but just about everyone I know that got the deco one got ripped off thinking they were getting a working one.

It wouldn't hurt to work on these a bit more, and the deco one should clearly state it is. I've seen one honest vendor on Atlantic in Luna that labeled his forge as Deco Only. Kudos to you sir :)

The deco one is a drop from an undead critter. Throwing the word soul in the title fits the spawn area. Bad naming is all. The next refresh they should all have a fix replacing the title line with "Spirit Trap"

The first thing (which is what I got) looks much more like the original, big, working soulforge core than the second.
This should be really a working option.

Yup the "fake one" looks more like a soul forge than the working one!

aye - but if you chop a big soulforge with gozas, that's not the bit you keep if you want the thing to work (as I found to my cost) You have to keep one of the large anvil shaped pieces.
The decorative one is called a 'mini' soulforge, the working version is a 'small' soulforge.

Yeah the real one is positively hideous. I don't know who it was... but after some point art stopped having the same slightly tilted perspective so anything round looks like an circle rather than an oval, and it simply looks atrocious next to any of the original art assets. It always baffled me that they thought that it looked good, or fit the world.

As Imbuing is a skill a lot players will have, I think they should allow both to work, players should not need a large house to own a soul forge.
An other trick, if no room for a soul forge at your crafting floor of your house, it can be over your head on next floor and it will work on your crafting floor.

Quite honestly both should be usefull as a soulforge for the smaller home. Again those larger items that need the space cause players to need bigger homes... I sometimes wonder where the PAST dev kept their brains... it was not at work thats for sure. Items players could use or making things a bit more usefull seemed out of their forte.

would be nice to get a smaller one that is more accessible to the masses.
i wouldnt like to place one on my ship for quick unraveling of loot, but im not gonna spend 100 mill to buy one of the rare drop ones just to put it on a ship.
also when i was working on a shard other then my home shard and had little to no gold i placed a small cottage to work out of, when it came time to work imbuing up i placed one in that small cottage.... darn thing took up 2/3's of the house!
like the raised flower bed there should have been a option for a large or small one off the original deed.

Well since I have one it's not really an issue for me. But the drop rate for these is pretty low. But I wouldn't mind taking a hit on it's value if they were more common. Only because the other one is so massive lol. Having dealt with the 4x4 one I understand. Maybe they could make a more common 2x2 one and leave the 1 square one as a status thing. 2x2 would be a little more practical. If you have room for a 4x4 one they are rather impressive looking. I guess there's room for naming one a "medium soul forge" lol

chopping a regular soulforge isnt that hard. like petra said, if you have a small house (or even a big house but hate the bulky forge) a 2 tile soulforge for 100k that involves a little work is a cheap alternative to a 1 tile for 100mil

The deco one was put into the game before the working one (which came out with high seas) so yes its confusing and easily mistaken for an uninformed player.

Yes, lets destroy the only desirable reward Scalis has, further destroying current game content.

Good thinking.

The one from Scalis will still be unique as it's a different design. I only see it as improving the game to make a 2x2 soul forge and if it could be added to the Traders Quest as a rare reward.
Give the Scalis a new reward, that is not needed of crafters in a small home.

Small homes seem it regularly not to make it into the developers mind. Each of the larger house add-on rewards would have a second different "toy" form instead, which occupies only one tile, so it would fit into a small grandfathered home (ever tried to place a light house, let alone three for a multi account player, or multiple garden sheds in a small home, where you would need them most?) and as well has not has this incredible adjacent passable tiles, which multitile addons nowadays face (which I find annoying for cannons and other stuff, a real plague).
Also there are still bugs with vet rewards not usable by coowners, i.e. the gadgetry table (only the house owner can claim a golem, not the reward owner who placed it in the house?) or the stone ankh. But not the thread to elaborate too deep.

Some people just don't get it. Its not personal, its just game design.

I think it is more correct to draw it like that If you look at the grid in uo you notice that every tile is a square if you draw a round object inside a tile it will look like a circle if the tile would be a rhomb then a round object would look oval

Add in a new imbue forge ability using a recolored version of the spinning globe artwork. Turn in points earned. Ingot and leather colored ones added to the new BoD rewards revamp. There is so many outdated things players used to enjoy they could rework. Doesn't help to have new input thinking when devs have no concept of the nature of the beast. Soulforge, garden shed and at least a dozen BoD holding vendors makes for a full house.

I think it would be nice if the decorative one was made to work just like the deeded one.
Would be nice too tho if there was a 2 tile one that was a reward or drop of some kind.
The craft-able ones definitely are not built for a one room cottage, but i like other posters
ideas of the work around of placing like a small multiple floor something with
same footprint as a cottage, placing forge on second floor and working under
it for more room, being a quick fix.
