Day dot: UO!

So my first day I turned red. I headed North outside of Britain bank towards the cemetary, and someone with some now illegal name (some animal) went into war mode and attacked me without hitting me. I responded in kind and BAM; murder count!

I only figured it out a bit later that day, after I'd been guard whacked a couple of times; Ah the good old days. hehe

Anyone else remember their first UO day?

On my first character in July 1998, I was killing pigs and chickens north of Moonglow because I thought a great way to make money was by selling food to other players . Some guy came around and started taming birds, then sending them to attack me, and I died. Yep, that's right. I got killed by a bird.

I just know I was born in Trinsic. Which I was very thankful for. And spending a lot of time on Barrier Island. I was in the beta, said this game needs work! Came back a year later and Barrier Island was a pretty safe place to beat on animals and gain skill. Spent a lot of time making fancy shirts from wool I found on Barrier Island for some quick gold. I remember wondering if someone could gank my public spinning wheel by adding yarn to it and stealing my cloth My first "house" was a boat placed in the water inside Trinsic walls. My next was a tent outside the south Trinsic gate.

Tents! I remember there being lots of them over the bridge East of Minoc! How fun, like a fair. I saw another thread about tents, which sounds like a good idea!

I remember my first day in UO..... I started out in some tutorial thing... I got about halfway though the thing when someone hit the center switch in my livingroom and shut off my pc..... it killed the harddrive and was 3 or 4 months before I got my computer back.... I'd forgotten where I had started some character and so made a new one.... there wasn't any tutorial this time that I recall really and I was in Haven back before anyone could go there it was only newbs... and I saw a blue gate.... it said something bout not entering it if I didn't want to leave or something but I'd already done it.... Ooops.

Then I couldn't get back to Haven... So it was onward and upward from there.

Right! I remember thinking that I'd take on some critter...a goat maybe, and BAM. Deathrobe.
I'll never look at 'harmless' critters the same.

I remember starting a paladin and wasting 800 or so gold buying taming and lore so I didn't have to spend money replacing horses, eventually saw that wasn't the best template
