Dangerous Vendor BUG Situation! Sellers Beware

I recently lost a number of kegs and scribed goods off a vendor that had been placed within "not for sale" boxes. I have now been able to identify that a single click on a "not for sale" box on a vendor will purchase the box for ZERO GOLD and everything in it goes too, no matter what it is marked for price-wise.

I strongly recommend that anyone with vendors and "Not for Sale" boxes immediately take them off your vendors and do without them to organize your items... you stand to lose it all.

I just put your words to the test and lost nothing on my other accounts vendor.

I too single clicked, it offered the word "buy"...I opted for yes, it stated my characters name, but absolutely nothing transpired.

What type of containers were you using? I had regular bags and the tiny pouches.

Cant buy backpacks, bags, or boxes on LS that are not for sale.

i just tried this on my guildmates vendors and i could not buy any of their containers. What kind of container did you have? Are you sure you didn't accidentally not hit escape and inadvertantly give it a price then open it and put stuff in? Move items with a price on them already into that container?

I lost wooden boxes... about 4 of them
so it might be limited to only certain containers, but I hadn't been able to do that purchase previously either and tonight I did (didn't rip anyone off.. ) It concerns me that this was possible at all.

my actual wooden boxes were gone from the vendor along with their contents and from what I could tell from my memory, no funds on the vendor. After the second day this happened I redid my keg and scribe vendors without the wooden boxes and haven't had any more 'anomolies'

It just seemed to me that someone should mention this, as I lost boxes and didn't want to see others lose the items we spend so much time and effort on like I did. Just trying to help.

We are not fussing at you We are playing detective. Trying to find out what is going on. When you say no funds. Do you mean no large funds? or would you have noticed 12-28 gold? That's about the range for containers.

i tried a few things with a wooden box. Could not get it to work yet. i'll keep messing.

Mmm, how much gold did you have in the bank? Stacks of gold, in check form?

There was a bug, I thought it was fixed, maybe it's still active under some circumstances. It went like this.
If you tried to put something on a vendor and accidentally dropped it on something it should stack with, but didn't (bugged stacks etc) the item 'bounced' back into your bag. The 'hidden' consequence was that it set the price of the container you were trying to put it in to default for the container. I lost boxes of stuff priced at 12gp.

There's 3 (maybe 4, but really #4 comes into play from one of the first three happening) possible things here...

1. There's the bounceback, and pricing the old item instead of the current one, issue.

2. Then, there's the containers in containers rule, which can cause the above.

3. Never talk to people (normal, chat, party chat, guild chat, alliance chat) while stocking a vendor. It's a recipe for disaster.

4. Also, make sure you don't have a stray number in your text line when putting something on a vendor. All it takes is a number as the first character/characters in the line, to turn it into a price. And a "0" makes the price "FREE!"
Hitting "enter" without text causes something to go to default price. Hitting "Esc" on a container (but only a container) can make it not for sale, but without a description (which works well for BOD books that already have names)
Many people also assume, incorrectly, that they have to type "not for sale" as part of the description for "not for sale" containers. No, all you have to do is just make sure the first line of the description is a character, not a number. Seeing every container in a vendor titled "Not for sale (item name)" is one of my pet peeves. The only time "not for sale" would be necessary in the description is for BOD books used as storage on a vendor (as in "BODs in book not for sale") to keep from getting people's hopes up, and having them search in vain for a priced BOD in it.

5. ALWAYS, when stocking a vendor, close the vendor pack and reopen after finishing, to make sure that everything got priced.
