That's just because at some point people decided the word auction had a bad connotation or are just ignorant that what they are doing when they put up an item for "offers" which are increasing bids from multiple parties until an arbitrary time or price is met is still a freakin auction.

For me it was about availability. Have not seen any for sale in a while and son has always wanted one. It will be the perfect UO Christmas gift for him, and to me that is worth well over what I paid for it
