cursed items

What does it mean when an item is cursed. Seems like it being cursed does not have the negative contation I thought It would! What/ when is an item cursed.?
Please teach me about cursed and blessed items Thanks

Opposite to cursed is blessed, which will be on you when you resurrect.

Cursed items can be stolen, will stay on your corpse and are generally an handycap...

example: artefacts and powerscrolls.

Suggestion: dont go to felluca using it nor solo hunting... you might have a bad experience.
