I just got the final Bod I needed for my first Gold hammer obtained through the Bod lottery, but I'm a bit undecided as to what type of weapon(s) to use it for as I got lucky last week and finally made the radiant scimitar that I've been trying to craft for the past couple of months. I was wondering what the top PvP weapons are in each of the melee classes (Fencing/Swords/Macing) nowadays to help narrow my decision down a bit?

Thanks in advance.

- Congrats on the first gold hammer! I got mine like right before I turned in blackrocks for even better hammers... But still it is a good feeling, that of collecting those BoDs and finally creating my first very own gold hammer.
Sorry I can't help with your question as I have been saving hammers until the crafting stuff is fully implemented. For a year or so I've been hearing things that lead me to believe crafting will still be changing up a bit (like when/if SA arrives).

Maces and diamond maces sell for alot if you make good ones. War Forks also sell well. Not sure about swords, I'd say bone harvester are the best. A nice UBW harvester will sell for quite a bit.

I've made quite a bit off bronze runic weps, so you should make a decent amount selling weps. Just a few I've made with bronze hammers:

War fork: 44 lightning, 50 HLD, 1 FC, 40 DI
Kryss: 46 fireball, 40 HLD, 40 DI, UBW
Kryss: 38 magic arrow, 50 HLD, 1 FC, 40 DI
Mace: 44 lightning, 44 HLD, 9 DCI, 40 DI
Mace: 42 lightning, 34 HLD, 9 HCI, 40 DI
Mace: 46 light, 44 Life leech, 9 HCI, 42 DI
Diamond Mace: 50 fireball, 25 SSI, 45 DI

Thank you! The first thing I do each day when I log in is go and make a Bod run. It was a pleasant surprise to get that this morning.

I'd actually just started making Diamond Maces with my Bronze runics in an attempt to duplicate the swords weapons (ornate axe & radiant scimitar) that I've made. My meleer has all 3 weapon skills, so my goal is to have his "ideal" weapons in each of the skills so he can pretty much do anything at any time depending on what the situation is. Looks like I'll just keep on with the Diamond Maces then and hope to strike gold (pun intended :hahaha:) on this one.

For swords just my .2gp

Bokuto (even tho it's carpentry)
No Dachi for the new gimplet double riding swipe all kill combo.

Well No Dachi is about it. A lot of good swords weapons out there but they are not made with a smith's hammer.

I have a couple hundred Shadow runics. Any advice on what to make with those?

I use those to make radiant scimitars, hoping for either a Demon or Undead slayer with mana leech. War fork, kryss, or even cutlasses would be good as well.

Twinkling Scimitars are a better choice then Radiants (if you have a good supply of Dark Saphires), since they have 6 DCI when you make them (not counted as one of the runic props). That's one of the weapons I make with all runics I use.

I made a chart, for myself, on natural dps for each weapon. It seems that the highest dps weapons are newer and more difficult to make. On average a Radient Scimitar will out DPS the Cutlass/Katana/Wakizashi(all the same DPS) by about 2-3 DPS(with dmg bonus from 100 Str, Dex, Tact, Anat, Item Property DI). However the Cutlass & Katana, at least, are guarenteed to be GM quality. Radients are a roll of the dice for GM quality.

The Crescent Blade generally has the highest DPS for 2-Handed Swords, with the Rune Blade and Daisho hardly ever more than 2 DPS behind, they even occasionally have higher DPS. The Bladed Staff is, on avg, 2-4.5 DPS behind the highest at each level.

The Mace is very rarely more than 1 DPS behind the Diamond Mace, yet GM quality is guaranteed. The Mace occasionally has a higher DPS with the right Dex/SSI combo.

The Tessen swings at max swing speed with only 90 Dex, or 60 Dex and 5%SSI, and easily out dmgs every other weapon at that level. Since it's at max, there is no way to up the DPS by Dex/SSI. Quarter Staves, made of Ash, swing at max speed and have a pretty nice DPS, yet still not as high as the Tessen.

Short Spear out dmgs Assassin Spike and Kryss by about 1.5. All 3 swing at max swing speed at 90 Dex, so no SSI will ever improve the DPS(SSI will help stay at max sing speed when Stam is below 90). The War Fork can out dmg all 3 of them with 90 Dex & 20 SSI(or 120 Dex & 5% SSI). The Double Bladed Staff can match the War Forks DPS with only 90 Dex and 5% SSI (or 120 Dex). The Leaf Blade, Spear & Pike can really dish out DPS at higher levels of Dex and SSI.

For Archery weapons... the highest DPS 4 are Crossbow, Repeating Crossbow, Heavy Crossbow, Magical Shortbow, Bow(more or less that order). The Bow is rarely more than 2 DPS behind the highest DPS.

Oddly enough the highest DPS Axe is the Hatchet(non-Runic-able). The Ornate Axe has the highest DPS at low and extremely high Stam/SSI levels. Surprisingly the 'Axe' out dmgs the Ornate in between.

This list is based on each weapons DPS derived from the weapons Base properties(min/max dmg and speed) and any stat and skill dmg bonuses. Each weapons final item properties(HCI, Hit Spell) & each targets resists will vary actual damage output. I hope this research helps more than it confuses!

Well, since you are so indecisive, Conner. I say you just give me the Hammer and I'll find a good deco-use for it. lol! Miss me? I know you do!

Ledge Smithy, with 100 AL, burning Bronze Hammers with +60 Ancient, making purely Radiant Scimitars.

Get some real Ubers (Guess thats the correct phraseology) like 3 x hit spell over 50, with DI 54% UBWS SC etc.

For the Swordsman, PvM melee' the Rad Scim should be the only weapon you ever consider making

Why?? Its as fast as....., one handed, and has whirlwind special, and hits hard enough to leave a mark.

Personally- Overseers Saundered rules, why make anything else, even in PvP I see folks run after 10 swishes in 10 secs of the Overseers......

Knowing you, you would find something "deco-ish" to do with one.

Ah yes, I do make those when I've got the sapphires to do so. Same thing with the silver etched mace and blue diamonds. My newest sword, that I FINALLY made, happily is a Twinkling Scimitar.

Speaking of Twinkling Scimitars...

36 Life Leech
40 Mana Leech
50 Lightning
21 Defense Chance Increase
40 Luck
30 SSI
40 Dmg Increase.

Super uber sampire weapon! My best wep made so far for PvM.

That would actually be better if the Life Leech were Stamina Leech. Other than that it's a sweet one. The one I came up with was:

48 Mana Leech
44 Stamina Leech
6 DCI
25 SSI
40 DI

With 150 dex/stam, what SSI do you need for either of those scim's to be capped?

C

Connor_Graham

If I remember right, 10 SSI will get you to cap. It's advisable to have 20 or more though, as when you get hit your Stamina goes down, thus slowing your swing speed. Having a higher swing speed than needed allows for you to stay at max speed through quite a few hits. Usually you're able to leech back enough Stamina during that time to get you back to full, thus maintaining max speed for the duration of the fight.

not too shabby..if you like stam mana I also have...

50 lower attack
55 mana leech
46 stam leech
40 luck
20 DCI
50 dmg

or

50 magic arrow
55 mana leech
44 stam leech
129 luck
19 dci
40 dmg

Just curious Connor... Are you running around with all three melee skills on your template? Or are you soul stoning the other two? Cuz if your having 360 skill points tied up with defferent melee skills, it really wont matter how good your weapons are.

Here's a calculator I made based off Setnaffa's calculations and updated weapon list. Enter your stats and starting modifiers and it will tell you what offers the highest DPS.

I prefer diamond maces, heavy x bows and ornate axes anything else the base damage is too low.

One at a time lol. The other 2 are kept on soulstones.

I've been making Rune Blades. If you can get one with SSI 30% and some other good properties, you have a heck of a weapon for a Sammie or Sampire swordsman. I believe it has the highest (or second highest) dps of any weapon. Disarm and Blade Weave are pretty nice for specials as well.

I usually make Mage's Rune Blades. These get FC 1 automatically and it can stack with any FC 1 from your runic hammer. I've made quite a few with FC 2 or SC+FC1.

Speaking of Twinklers, here are two of my best...

Besides the 120 archery and 120 anat.. (by the way I would raise those tactics!)..... What is you HCI?????? I use 45 HCI.... Not that I hit much either as everyone just either evades, uses those cursed mirror images or I just plain miss more than I hit!..... but just currious.

Ahhh, ****. I started a fad. I've used Riding Swipe with No-Dachi for a long time. I charge the person and right before i hit them i use UOA macro to hop off my Lesser Hiryu and dismount them with Riding Swipe. If i suspect they may be a speedhacker, and i can somehow get close enough to them (Generally by having someone chase them out towards me), i Riding Swipe them while on mount to Stun them, then hop off Lesser Hiryu and Riding Swipe them again to Dismount them. Usually don't use "All Kill" though, my Lesser is usually Guarding me.

I see people keep on talking about DPS and Twinkling Scimitars in PvP. DPS is nice and all, but it only really works if your' opponent stands still and let's you whack the hell out of them. Don't know many decent PvPers that do that. What you really need for PvP is burst damage, which is generally from Specials, and the Twinkling Scimitar really has crappy Specials for PvP. Whirlwind is useless in PvP, and Bladeweave more often than not does a worthless, broken special and wastes your Mana. Basically when you activate Bladeweave, you're hoping you "roll" right and get a AI, Bleed or Mortal. All the other specials (Feint, Double Strike, Para Blow, Block, etc) 4/7 are pretty worthless and have a high chance of going off from what i've experienced. If i want to do a Mortal, i whip out my Crescent Blade, if i want to do a AI, i whip out my Blade of Insanity, if i wanna do a Bleed, i whip out my Cleaver. Doesn't take that long with UOA Macros.
