We have gifted 5,000 each to 13 people for suggesting suitable names from the 770 nominations we were delighted to have received!

That's better than any outcome that could have been expected based on the outcries, especially giving so many people the full prize when it was only supposed to be the winning one. Perhaps that will stimulate the economy a little bit with that extra 65k (13x5) in it.

I will mourn the loss of the prospect of spending FunBucks for a while though

Actually if you read the first post on this, each person who got their suggestion on the top 5 would have gotten 5k even if they lost.

While I appreciate the fact they tried to get us involved in the naming of currency and gave us the opportunity to vote, I am still saddened that we were only given the option to vote on only 5. I would think a web vote on an ea.com sponsored website allowing one vote per paying account would produce better results. Login, vote once. Votes tallied. If the ea.com login for avatarbook is secure, I see no reason why they can't create another login just for voting process.

I dont remember reading that, but even so since they cancelled it I think its decent of them to giv all 13 of the top choices an equal amount....and no I don't say that because I'm one of the 13 before anybody asks....I was locked out completely when suggesting was going on so I wasn't even able to toss my hat in the proverbial ring, but I am still glad for those who did win. The economy badly needed an influx of a little bit of money to get things kickstarted....now if those players spend that money wisely and put it back in the money pool, it might actually result in even a small payout increase.

Wow. I am glad I sold my cards last night... lol. I didn't care what the new name was going to be. Though, I did have one I was coming around on. EADollars wasn't the worst one around.

Anyways, I agree a web voting site would be the best. But, they will need to allow 1 vote per IP address or people will be voting non-stop.

I was hoping EA would take various unknown slang terms for money and either use those terms or spice them up for our money...

Like Dosh, which refers to any sort of money (reference http://www.aldertons.com/money.htm)

Maybe use that word alone, or modify it. There are all kinds of words that mean money including simoleans, which is an actual term.
Please don't make me call my money Available Funds, lol, because I will

Thank goodness. I thought those were all fairly horrible names. The reason Simoleans (spelling?) is so good is because it's original. The name is a good currency name. yet it has no word in it that suggests currency like bucks, dollars, money and so on.

As for the cards thing, I don't even know what you guys are talking about. I've heard about them a few times, I just never really payed attention to it.

Some of us, during the Town Hall meeting, decided that our avatars formerly known as Sims should be called Meeps, and that our currency should be called Cheeps.

Poor Greg, having to keep a straight face and pretend not to hear us while we were discussing this! lol

I loved my Landoleans. But, *sigh*, it sounded to much like simoleans. I am happy about the decision. I didn't like "bucks" or "dollars." The game needs its own unique name... not names based on rl money.

I would have liked FunBucks, but I wish they would at least keep one thing with the word Sim in it *cough* SIMoleans *cough* I mean I know when we mouse over hunger or something (last I heard) it says the Sim needs...blah blah. But whatever, I guess I'll just have to be apathetic on this one

Im kinda glad they did that. I didn't like any of the names. Didnt someone suggest something like Llamas? Its better than Ebucks XD


Edit: It was EMU's, not llamas. Even better!!
