I've seen screen shots of 21 - 28. That seems a little low?

Bake's have 32 - 45. Seems like Cu's hit harder.

While I'm asking.... Is the damage calculator the same for pets as for people?

Tacs = Skill / 1.6 + 6.25 (at GM or above)
Anat = Skill / 2 + 5
Strength = STR * .3
---------------------------
Add those up and divide by 100 to get Damage %.

Min Dmg + ( Min Dmg * Dmg % ) = Minimum Damage
Max Dmg + ( Max Dmg * Dmg % ) = Maximum Damage

If thats the forumula... then Hiryu's hit for ~550 - ~800 ROFL, so I think something is different or Strength has a cap.

The formula is the same for weapon dmg as it is for pets. I think you messed up in your math somewhere, cause I put the formula in a spreadsheet and it gives me reasonable values for pet dmg based on skills/stats.

The actual dmg a pet does depends entirely on the resists of whatever the pet is hitting. I've seen cu do less than 20 dmg against some targets (targets with high cold and energy resist). If you really want to see your cu do next to no dmg, take it out to fight some crystal hydras. Crystal hydras can have 100 cold/energy resist and if they do, your cu will do 0 dmg.

This is why a lot of tamers use different pets depending on what they're doing.

Well, it's the strength stat that skews the numbers so much.

Lets do a Cu at 21-28 damage.

100 Tacs = (100/1.6)+5 = 69
100 Anat = (100/2)+5 = 55
612 Strength = (612*.3)+5 = 189 (Max tamed strength)

69+55+189=312 , 312/100=3.12

21 + ( 21 * 3.12 ) = 86 Min Dmg
28 + ( 28 * 3.12 ) = 115 Max Dmg

That seems reasonable. How about a White Wrym? 67 - 98 Damage

100 Tacs = (100/1.6)+5 = 69
100 Anat = (100/2)+5 = 55
760 Strength = (760*.3)+5 = 228 (Max tamed strength)

69+55+228=352, 352/100=3.52

67 + ( 67 * 3.52 ) = 302 Min Dmg
92 + ( 92 * 3.52 ) = 415 Max Dmg

And finally, lets do a Hiryu. 125 - 181 Damage?

100 Tacs = (100/1.6)+5 = 69
100 Anat = (100/2)+5 = 55
705 Strength = (705*.3)+5 = 216 (Max tamed strength)

69+55+216=340, 340/100=3.14 pi LOL

125 + ( 125 * 3.14 ) = 517 Min Dmg
181 + ( 181 * 3.14 ) = 749 Max Dmg

Now I am obviously doing something seriously wrong here. I'm thinking it has to do with the damage numbers or the strength.

The Cu numbers seem about right, the WW seem a little exaggerated, and the Hiryu numbers seem completely wrong.

I'd sure like to find a damage calc for animals someplace... or just know what the formula is.

str bonus is
str * .3 + 5 (+5 if str is 125 or higher)

so...
100 str = 30% bonus
125 str = 42.5% bonus

Anatomy bonus is
Anatomy / 2 + 5
so...
100 anatomy = 55% dmg bonus
50 anatomy = 30% dmg bonus

tactics bonus is
tactics / 1.6 (add 6.25 if tactics is 100 or higher)
so..
80 tactics = 56.25% dmg bonus
100 tactics = 68.75% dmg bonus
120 tactics = 81.25% dmg bonus

These dmg bonuses are then added together to get the total dmg modifier.

Total modifier = anat bonus + tactics bonus + str bonus

This modifier is then applied to base dmg.

So... if you have a hiryu with 710 str (so it's been tamed) and GM anat/tactics, the dmg looks like this

str bonus = 710*.3 +5 = 218%
anat bonus = 55%
tactics bonus = 68.75%

Total bonus = 341.75%

min dmg = 20 + (20 * 3.4175) = 88.35
max dmg = 30 + (30 * 3.4175) = 132.53

if you're talking a wild hiryu with 1400 str and GM anat/tactics (anat won't be GM on a wild one, but tactics could exceed GM), it would look like this
Str Bonus = 425%
Total Bonus = 548.75%

min dmg = 20 + (20 * 5.4875) = 129.75
max dmg = 30 + (30 * 5.4875) = 194.625

This is why hiryu sometimes 1 hit kill ppl with bad physical resist. Even if you have 50% phys resist, you're down to a max of 97 dmg, which is surviveable for some people
70% phys resist knocks it down to 58 dmg max.

I hope this helps

This REALLY helps!

Here's where I'm messed up:

min dmg = 20 + (20 * 3.4175) = 88.35
max dmg = 30 + (30 * 3.4175) = 132.53

[/ QUOTE ]I had Hiryu damage MUCH higher then 20-30. Stratics shows 125-181 damage. The VM website shows it at 88-132. Is that the already calc'd damage?

*Ok after looking it over, the 88-132 is tamed min-max damage with all stats already calc'd using 20-30 as base damage.

Now, how come some animals are shown this way (already calc'd out) and some are shown with base damage instead? And how do I know which are which?

I've actually had this discussion with a stratics mod already. He said that the stratics "base dmg" is supposed to be the dmg you should expect to see as punch through damage in an all 70's suit.

The problem is they label it as "base dmg"

I tried to enter the correct base dmg values on uoguide.com's monster list, but someone went through and "incorrected" the base dmg for a few of the monsters, so it's pretty inconsistant. I don't have the time to go through and fix all that again, so I haven't bothered.

If you want to do the calc yourself, what you want to do is use the base dmg values that show on the animal lore gump. Leurocian, being the awesome dev he is, added base dmg to the AL gump after I asked for it. Leurocian is the bee's knees

Without that addition, it would be impossible for us to actually calculate adjusted dmg. I added an optional mod to my AL gump in KR (custom mod) that calculates adjusted base dmg based on the creature's str, hp and dex. It's pretty useful, but I haven't released that version of the mod yet because I'm not certain that my mod is properly cleaning up after itself. I'm kinda waiting for a patch or 2 before I work on my mod some more

I'm trying to backwards calc this based on the numbers from Veterinary Master.

My algebra has slept far too long. It wakes wondering where the heck it is....

On VM website they show a Cu's damage as 86-115.

So.... to figure out base damage....

86 = X + ( X * 3.12 )
115 = Y + ( Y * 3.12 )

Where X would be minimum base damage and Y would be maximum base damage. I know the answer is 21 and 28, but how do I formula that for a spreadsheet?

Little Algebra help here high schoolers? Please?

Base damage shows on the animal lore gump on the damage page.

Here are some base dmg numbers to help you in case you can't get in game from where you are (I can't, but these are straight from my spreadsheet)

Hiryu: 20-30
Cu Sidhe: 21-28
Reptalon: 21-28

Rune Beetle: 15-22
Lesser Hiryu: 18-23
White Wyrm: 17-25
Dragon 16-22

Nightmare: 16-22
Ki Rin: 16-22
Bake Kitsune: 15-22
Fire Steed: 11-30 (they double pack instinct with each other, though... 2 steeds is 75% dmg bonus on each one)
Drake 11-17 (same as hell hound)

Hell Hound 11-17
Frenzied Ostard 11-17
Hellcat 6-12
Predator Hellcat 5-17
Frost Spider 6-12
Giant Scorpion 5-10
lava lizard 6-24
giant ice worm 7-17

It's easy to see just looking at base dmg that some pets are just not worth having (drakes for example)

See I knew this would eventually work it's way past the fog in my brain...

86 = X + ( X * 3.12 )
86 = X + 3.12X
86 = 4.12X
86 / 4.12 = X
20.8 = X

Now using the VM numbers I should be able to reverse calc the numbers for Rune Beetles and such.

*Edit: Or I could use your list LOL. Thanks a ton Sarphus
